    Hi Everyone,

Just wanted some advice about reclaiming PPI from 2 of my credit cards.
First one is a Natwest credit card, I've had this card since 1999. I only found out about 2 weeks ago that the payment protection was optional!! Being young at ther time, I assumed that the payment protection was part of the package and I was not told otherwise. I called them yesterday to ask for a copy of the original agreement but they just said they don't have it! Do I have to get a copy of the original agreement before I can start writing to them requesting my money back? Any other advice would be great too!

    Thanks :D

    Hi there

I thought that as well hun with my credit card, I always thought it was an all in one sort of thing and I think you have a chance here of complaining and reclaiming.

I would write to them by using your own words, even though there is a letter template which I will add the link below to give you some ideas.

They have 8 weeks to respond in full, another letter maybe required if not successful or until you have exhausted their complaints procedures, they should enclose in their final response of other ways to have your complaint investigated for example the financial ombudsman service (FOS) where a leaflet should be enclosed.

Post by recorded delivery for your proof of posting, you can check delivery of your items on the royal mail website, you will know when they have received your items, then keep a check on the timescales they have.

Keep us updated on this in case any help is required.
    Good luck.;)

I take it you still have the paperwork/agreements for these, and are they still active?

    Cheers.

Could someone explain if I understand this correctly ....

The PPI added to the loan was £9387.03 but the monthly PPI payments were intially £73.30. This over 60 months is only £4380.

    Why is there a £5000 difference ?

    Thankyou

    Hi everyone

I have been reading the posts and I am sorry to see you are not getting along. At first this site was great offering help and advice when needed and I have found you guys a great support to me.

What is really annoying me is that some people have disappeared from this site. Do you not think this is what these financal instutions want. If communication breaks down amongst ourselves then they have won. I know people opinions may differ but thats life. I can understand the frustrations many are going through and I sympathise with them but we MUST all stand together and fight this cause and help people when they need it.

I hope this post has not caused offence as it is not pointed at anyone in particular. You have all been a great help to many on this site and what one persons veiw may help in some cases it may not help in others.

Let's get back to fighting the banks etc and not ourselves

Cheers for that! I will write to them now and see what happens. I don't have the paperwork or the agreement but when I spoke to them yesterday, I asked for them to send me a copy of the original paperwork but they said they can only send me the up to date policy agreement which has had changes made to it since I signed the Agreement. Do I have to have the paperwork/agreement for me to try and reclaim? :D

    Hi hun

    Good luck with this.

The information can be handy if required for complaints such as reclaiming etc.

However I note you said they can only supply you with an update?
In regards to the previous finance, was that more than 6 years ago by any chance?
If not they should be able to send you a copy of that one as well.

They generally charge £1 cheque or postal order payment for the agreement and it should take no longer than 12 days to arrive.

    Hope this helps.;)

  • Hi all - the £550 refund from Egg is been put in my account today. Remaining balance of the card is a little over £700 and with my council tax arrears payment from 05 due to end next month, I should be able to get rid of Egg by June!!!!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
