Does anyone have experience of applying to Marks and Spencer for PPI reclaims for either:
    a. A loan
    b. Charge Card
I have loan documentation from from April 1999 and also a selection of statements for the charge card including PPI payments each month for 5 years.
I have searched but could not find - was or is M&S regulated by FOS in the late 1990s? If not does anyone know who regulated them? I remember reading some comments on threads but could not find them now.
    Very many thanks
PPI compensation claims paid: Egg Card: £1,107, Alliance & Leicester: £2,425
PPI claims agreed: Lloyds TSB Loansdirect: £16,551, Lloyds TSB Advance Card: £9,360
    PPI claims pending: RBS/NatWest Visa Gold Card: £10,734, Barclaycard: £9,375, Barclaycard loans: £2,400, LTSB (4 loans, '90s): £11,670, M&S: £1,351. Plus..
    TOTAL PPI reclaim: £67,000

    Hi there

I expect there are many who have had dealings with these, especially a loan ppi.
    And charge card.

I am not sure about M&S being regulated but you could check with the financial ombudsman service first if you want to, they should be able to check this for you.

It could be a case of following this up with the underwriter/insurer otherwise, as the FOS are also trying to make these liable as well and have suggested this direction to many.
And they would have been regulated.;)

So when you get the chance next week, give the FOS a call.
    There are ways around this.

And more on reclaiming, a checklist of mis selling reasons, the procedures on reclaiming etc here:

    Hope this helps.:)

    Hi there again.

Have just phoned MBNA's Customer Service Dept and they can't help! There is no direct line that they could put me through to, nor is there an email address, for the Customer Advocacy Dept, who are the ones I need to speak to.

The Customer Service Adviser did say that he thought that they should have issued me with a cheque and not just refund the PPI to my account and he advised me to write to the Customer Advocacy Dept again, stating this and re-requesting the breakdown of the figures that I asked for. I had received a letter saying that they would respond within 28 days, which means that I should get a response by next Monday, if they've not ignored or overlooked my request. However, I think I will still go ahead and ask again, as per the phone call today!

    Hi there

And yes that sums it up, however if you had the loan with the same lender you would have possibly have had a rebate (in reducing the previous loan balance), but you still make a reclaim on both policies if mis sold on both.
So basically if you used a broker for the first one you make a separate reclaim to them and the other to the lender.

    Hope this makes sense.;)

    Hi Karen

Claims companies - never trust them.

I would personally contact the Ministry of Justice in short known as MOJ and ask for advice on this, 2 weeks is pathetic.
    Give them a call here:
    http://www.justice.gov.uk/contactus.htm

And explain your situation to them.

Once and hopefully resolved, you can do this all free with help from this site, check the link below and follow the guidelines to reclaiming, also ask for further help if required.

Get that matter sorted out first though, please let us know how you get on, cheers.;)
