hi everyone, i had a lot of problems with Barclays and i just wanted ours back too. Alot of things were spoken about over the phone and i asked for things to be logged on the notepad, most of it was. Eventually, i went to the bank personally, explained to them the situation and they took copies of things and faxed them direct to the person handling the case. You may find they will make excuses such as the volume of claims, info not passed on etc. If any money is still owed you may be told that you have to take out another loan, for the remaining period left on your loan ie 36 mths in my case. Although they had all our details of income they requested it again - fax it is my advice ( copy of wage slip etc-avoids further delays) do it at the bank aswell, you will get a photocopy. Make sure it is sent to the claim handler ie FAO: We later got a letter stating they are dealing with our case june (it all started in Jan). It was nearly finished with then, got on the phone demanded compensation, got two refusals, then £100.00 and an aplogy. They had also had made a mistake and we are paying bak less as their maths didn't add up - rushed our case, they know about it though. Check your new interest rate is correct.

Thank you so much for your advice, and well done to you for keeping at them and strong about this.

To all claimers, make sure when you win mis sell, the loan goes on at the same term and apr with the ppi taken off, and your payment reduces.I Dont trust the banks word, get it in writing.

    Hi there

Some will ask for a copy of the signature for proof that it is you, with just one of them I believe I had to do this and think I sent them a copy of a utility bill/council tax bill instead that did not have a signature on it, and they still dealt with my case.

Personally I think a bill should be sufficient without need of your signature, but wait for other opinions on this if you want to first, or contact the Information Commissioners office (ICO) for advice, they should let you know of the best direction to take with this matter.
    https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx

    Good luck.;)
Agree di 100%, the tricks these bankers get up to, wouldnt suprise me if they copied and pasted the sig onto a different "agreement" just to get out of paying mis sell, or maybe to pay less.Dont trust them an inch.

    Hi there

First of all good luck with your reclaiming, and yes I bet you feel very bitter indeed, now go and get your money back.;)

Ans 1 - Its optional to attach any evidence, but if you do, only attach/enclose copies and not the originals.

Ans 2 - You Should expect all you have paid in PPI to the account, interest and also request the 8% interest of what a court would award.

Ans 3 - The loan number is usually that of the insurance number, and because the insurance is paid within the loan, so write the loan account number.

Ans 4 - You write down the actual position at the time of when you taken out the loan in Novembe, so if this was less than 16 hours a week also write that in as well.

Hope this helps, fingers crossed for you.;)

Thank you for your reply and crossed finger. ;)
I just sent the questionnaire with copy of loan and insurance terms and agreements today.

The HSBC address for complaint is:
The Manager, Service Quality Team, HSBC Bank plc, Arlington Business Centre, Millshaw Park Lane, Leeds, LS11 0PP
It can be found from HSBC UK home page->Contact->Unhappy.

I will post here if I have any response from them.

  • Hi, I am just starting to work my way through the 500-odd posts on here but really need an answer to my question asap if poss please?

I took out PPI on 6 Shop Direct accounts in September 2009, not sure if I was self-employed when I filled in the app forms. How can I find out what info I put? Do I need to do a SAR?

Also, in March 2007, I took out a Lloyds TSB Mastercard, from my local branch, who knew I was in receipt of maternity benefits at the time. I was also sold PPI. Was this possibly mis-sold? There are some P's and some O's in various boxes in the cover explanation part but it explains nothing to me!

I've always thought I needed PPI so I'd be accepted for the card/account or the lenders wouldn't touch me without insurance.

Many thanks to any answers received!
I've got nothing else but I've got my family.
Mum to Moo age 6, Wills aged 3. 2nd wedding anniversary 11/13!

Hiya, i hope you are coping ok.

Were you told that you had to have the PPI, informed that you could get it elsewhere or asked if you already had any such cover to protect yourself financially and would have they paid up if you lost your job etc? These are the first things i would be asking myself. As far as the self-employed part, i don't know - could you ring your tax office?
If it makes any difference mine was mainly over the phone and fax, i personally would not say i didn't know, if they did not tell you. Get a notepad and write down the bits you can remember, put it down, try to remember was it a happy voice he or she etc. It will come to you. If in doubt keep out of that part of your notepad. Turn to the back page and write down your bugs. I bet you were mis-sold it though, take care
