    Hi all
FP are a terrible company, you only need to go to http://firstpluscomplaints.co.uk/ to follow some of their reported scams.
I have had a loan for just over 5 years and a bit like SAJ0427, found this site some weeks before my 5th anniversary (with FP, not birthday or anything nice :)) and held off a mis-selling claim until getting my refund.
To be fair to FP that went without a hick-up, I rang them at the beginning of this year to check out my rebate (half expecting some excuse/small print cop out/we are no longer trading statement) but was told I should contact them nearer the date. I then received a letter from them with a form to fill in confirming I still had the loan, hadn't claimed and some other rubbish (all of which they would know), so I sent it back all filled in.
I then got a letter from them confirming receipt and if all was in order I should hear back from them within 1 month of expiry of my PPI policy.
In reality I rec'd the cheque 2 weeks later.
I waited for the cheque to clear and then sent in my mis-selling letter (some of you may remember an earlier post of mine) and to try and make a long story short, FP told me I was sold this by a broker, the broker has gone bust and not our problem. I have sent FP my final letter and awaiting their response before going to FOS (advice from firstpluscomplaints forum is that FP are responsible for actions of their agents).
As before will keep you posted

  • Just a quick update, I have spoken to the FOS and they are in contact with the bank, but my case has not been given to an ajudicator as yet. Do you think it would help if I emailed the CEO as above? The bank have agreed that I was missold, but they were very unhelpful when it came to working out the figures for repayment. This is why I sent it to the FOS, but this has now been going on for 6 months altogether and I just want some money! :rotfl:
Thanks for all the support and advice on here it is fantastic.

I have emailed the CEO so wait and see now :)
  • they are correct, under regulation they have to issue a final response, however this does not stop them from then re-considering thier offer,

myself and others have had success by refusing the goodwill gestures which were final offers and asking them to re-consider.

its worth a try, like anything in life, if you don't give it a go you'll never know.

I had a letter like this from LTSB and wrote back saying that that was unacceptable and that they had agreed I had been missold on my other loan so how could they say I wasn't on this one. And it worked they agreed I was missold so will be getting a bit more back than a goodwill gesture. Keep at it and good luck:)

If anyone can remember, I phoned Lloyds TSB last week to see if they were going to re look at my October 2007 complaint due the recent FSA ruling, despite the fact that it is now with the Ombudsman for a final ruling.
They told me that they would wait to hear from the FOS and that was that................typical Lloyds caring response.
I basically told Lloyds that they were a waste of space and couldnt organise the preverbial p*** up in a brewery.
I then spoke to the FOS and they confirmed that Lloyds would await a FOS response.
The strange thing is that I have received a letter from Lloyds today, acknowledging my complaint and saying they will fully investigate within the given time frames. The reference number is the same as my original complaint.
I dont know if they are now investigating my complaint that I made against them on the phone or if they are reinvestigating the original complaint. Whatever they are doing I think it just reiterrates the fact that Lloyds have not got a clue what they are doing with anybody.
I will keep you all updated on my original complaint as well as the complaint about the complaint................if you know what I mean.:)

    Hi,

Just got a letter today from Capital One claiming that I opened my CC online and they therefore had nothing to do with the selling of PPI.

Strange thing is, i did indeed apply online for this card, at the time when you got a response in one minute....except my response was for me to call them, or them call me. Can't remember who was to call who, but I do specifically remember that I had to talk to them.

Plus on the tru copy of the CCA the tick box for the PPI does look altered.

So, off I go with my response back to them. Just wondering has anyone else had this sort of problem with them?

    Thanks.

Hi all, I am just starting a PPi reclaim against first plus. I have filled in the questionnaire, do I need to send a covering letter with it?

Also my 5 year term is up in February so i will be getting my refund then ( I never realised we had to apply for it) my question is if I try to reclaim and am unsuccessful will I still be eligable for the PPI refund in February? I haven't made any claims on the PPI or missed any payments

    Hi there

A cover letter is not essential, not unless you want to give them further information, if the form did not give you the opportunity to do this.

To what I know of your still entitled to receive the after 5 year percentage, just as long as you don't cancel, but hopefully someone else who have gone through this by keeping it going will confirm.

Also just to ask, was the loan sold by First Plus or a broker?
As you complain to the ones who sold and set you up the loan.;)

Good luck with this, please keep us posted.:)
