Hi all, hope you are all well. I need some help, i have put in a complaint for missell of ppi, all in all its taken now 6 months to get to the botttom of it , first lender, broker and now insurers, anyhow i am now pursuing with the insurers and they have had 5 weeks over the eight week timescale now. I do keep ringing them weekly and the last update i had was they were getting in touch with the underwriters. He also told me that there wer some leagal issues with my complaint as when i took the loan i was made redundant and the brokers just put a cross through my employment details and still charged me the ppi. My question is do i just take it to the fos now as they have had plenty of time to deal with this now.0

Hi Lucieloo
Hope your well.
You could actually give the FOS a ring and see what they advise now from here, let them know the details as you have above and I'm sure they will be able to help.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi there
First of all good luck with this.
As you have received a response and they have given a timescale, it maybe worth waiting until then, but just as long as the 8 weeks have passed your entitled to take your complaint to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).
However, as there are 5 separate claims, I assume it would take them all this time to investigate each one.
Myself personally would wait until the timescale they given, and take it from there.
Fingers crossed though they will come back with positive results for you on all of them sooner.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hello there
I took a loan out with First National in 2000 with PPI (I didn't understand or need) - GE money have taken them over and i wrote to GE money complaining about misselling of PPI. Recieved reply today directing me to Freedom Finance(Karacus). Ive looked at old posts concerning this 'runaround' and they suggest finding out who the insurers are cos I might not get anywhere with Freedom Finance. Is this still the best advice? How do I find out who the insurers are - I haven't documentation of the ppi only the loan. Also is it worth going after this as I took loan ut in 2000 - paid up in 2008??? How do I find out if Freedom Finance were covered by FOS at the time? Thanks for your help0 -

Hi, i finaly got my ppi refund yesterday(£800) after a few months of sending my first letter, they put the refund straight into my current acount and and they ajusted my loan amount (£125 taken off the loan) so it was like i didnt have the ppi, my loan went down to about £500 when i checked my balance yesterday.
But today i got up to check my balance and now the loan says i owe them £1300, they gave me a ppi refund of £800 into my current account but put £800 onto my loan !!!!. this cant be right.
does anyone know what there doing ?
Id ring them but there not open on saturday's

Hi there
First of all I would contact the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) to have this confirmed with them direct in regards of the insurer.
However, the FOS are suggesting the insurer direction is all other avenues have been exhausted.
What you then do is write to the lender for the Insurance policy details, ask that they supply by 7-14 days.
Sometimes these insurance policy documents have to be requested for separarately and not included in the loan documents from when you taken them out.
You then write to the insurer the way you had done with the broker and if they come back and say no, the FOS should be able to investigate as these would have been regulated by FSA or prior to these GISC.
The FOS are trying to make the insurer/underwriter repsonsible as well, as they do have part responsibility when this was sold to you, and give the ho ahead on the insurance before the loan is approved.
So give the FOS a ring to have this confirmed and take it from there.;)
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
