Hi everyone
I took out an alliance and leiceter credit card in 1996 which was then transfered to mbna in 2003. At the end of last year I wrote to A and L to claim ppi refund on preexsisting med grounds they wrote back saying the were not responsible and they refered me to mbna .Mbna refuned me ppi back to 2003 which was great. But mbna said the were not responsible for premiums before this and said to contact A & L about these . So in January I wrote back to A & L asking look at refunding premiums between 1996 and 2003 . I did not recieve and letter with in 5 weeks so I phoned them . They said they had no record of my letter . So I wrote again this time registering the letter I got a letter saying they were busy but would look into it that was 8 weeks ago phoned again yesterday and they said they were still looking into it. Can I still refer this to fos as I have claimed from mbna but am asking a&l for further ppi refund and I have no final response from A & L.
Sorry its a long one but would appriciate advice0 -

Hi Mollymoo
They do seem to be giving you the runaround don't they?
I would contact the FOS anyway to be honest, see what they have to say.
They may take over from here for you.
Give it a go if you want to, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

just rang fos and explained I,m a bit confused as they say to write to mbna again aswell as A & L even though mbna have refunded to 2003. Will follow advice but not very confident with this one may be being over optomistic by will give it one more go. I have 3 more cases with the fos between myself and hubby all been they over 9 monthes !!!! frustrated !!!!0 -
Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me any advice on making a claim for the following:
I had an MBNA credit card ten years ago and due to my financial situation entered into a debt management plan in 2007 making minimum payments to clear the debt. However on receiving my statements discovered that my MBNA account was not reducing due to PPI payments. I rang the PPI company to reduce my policy to more smaller amounts so I can pay off more of my credit card, they informed me due to me being on debt management plan I only had two options cancel the policy or keep paying in full. I have now cancelled the policy but want to see if I can reclaim any of this so I can use it to pay off my outstanding credit card debt. I believe I only claimed my PPI once in 2003.
Thanks0 -

Hi and welcome
Yes I believe you can, because you had still been paying for the ppi into the account, and now its also worthless to you, you have the right to reclaim.
I would certainly give it a go.
However, if successful, they may refund the ppi amount towards the debt, but it may differ from one bank to another, and if they uphold in your favour by accepting they mis sold, they should refund all you have paid in ppi, plus interest, so in this case, the ppi refund will possibly be refunded towards the debt and interest should be refunded directly to you.
I would therefore write to the ones who set this up for you, (even though its with a debt agency, that does not matter), give them 8 weeks to respond in full.
The FOS recently issued Questionnaires, you can complete these for any ppi reclaming, loan ppi, credit card ppi and so on.
Keep copies in case you need to refer to them later on.
You will find the questionnaires on the guidelines of reclaiming link below, and the part where is states Stage one.

I have just recieved paperwork from MBNA at 2nd attempt .Took out the credit card Jan 1997 and paid it off Jan 2006.They have sent me list of transactions only from March 2003 to Aug 2005,is this right? T he total of ppi paid during these 29 months amounts to £1204.36.We cancelled the ppi in March 2005 My husband was self employed at the time of taking out this card and have recieved back ppi from other sources on these grounds. What I need to know is can we claim back ppi from before 2003 and what is the next step if we just claim back this amount from 20030

Hi
I have known this to be done, but can be difficult if there is no paperwork for this.
I would contact the data debt again on the off-chance and ask if they have anything in relation to this account from before 2003, so all the better if you can get hold of this information.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
