• I am worried that if I try to reclaim PPI from the bank I have a mortgage with, it might cause problems in the future- does anyone have any advice? Also, anyone ever tried to reclaim PPI from Welcome Financial Services?

Hi and welcome.

Lots of reclaimers worry on this but they should not discriminate you on other accounts just because your making a reclaim on what is rightfully yours.

They have a lending code to follow and to treat customers fairly.

Yes there have been stacks of Welcome complaints on here, please if you get the chance also read through the threads, you will come across lots who have dealings with these or maybe still have ongoing reclaims with them.

Guidelines of reclaiming here:

Ask for help anytime and good luck.

Anyone got any idea of how long the backlog is with the FOS, have had a complaint with them regarding the RBS since Feb 09 and all they say is that they are waiting for an adjudicator to become available.

I am in exactly the same position as you. I have 2 that went in Feb/Mar 09 and both are waiting to be allocated to an adjudicator. I rang the FOS as I am going to be out of the country for a few weeks but they said they've no idea how long it will be before reaching an Adjudicator.

Good luck, fingers crossed!!

Long time reader first time poster.

I have been in a process of claiming PPIs from Lloyds on my loan and credit card. About two months ago I noticed that they have been charging me PPI on my card. I called them and spoke to their manager and I have asked them that I will investigate this issue. So far my claim for my card PPI refund is still not resolved but I did get a letter from them saying they will investigate the matter.

As for my loan, I settled my loan early, late 2008. The loan started 2004 to settle my other debts and overdrafts. When I settled the loan I didn't pay too much attention with the documentation and just thought about finally getting myself loan free. Recently I saw the final letter again and realised I actually paid for PPI on this loan costing £1,250 and was added on top of the loan ammount. I sent Lloyds a letter to reclaim my PPI and recieved a letter back offering me £203 to settle the complain as a final settlement because of some kind of 'sliding scale rate'. They have rejected my claim but was still offered the amount. This was their final letter. At first I thought I'll take it but came to think of it I might have a case against them. I am planning to send a second letter based on the template.

What I remember when I applied for the loan was that the seller highly recommended the PPI and I thought it was compulsary to take them with the loan. Since they told me(called me several times at home) that settling my debts would save me money I pretty much agree to what they offered me but didnt realised that the PPI was optional. I was working part time then and was really short of money. They said that the PPI will protect me. I had Health care insurance on my current account which was also Lloyds and would cover me if I get sick or unable to work.

Do you think I still have a case even if I did signed the PPI documentations but didn't realised this was optional? I cannot recall fully what was said during my converstations with the loan manager.

Should I take the money or should I pursue even more? I started with nothing but got £203 offer or should I just go for it and bluff it with a second letter and threaten the ombudsman? Please help. Thanks.

Hi and welcome

If this was not the final response and your not happy with their decision you can of course write back and give your view on their findings, and ask them to review your complaint, where you believe due to this your entitled to all the PPI you paid, interest, also interest of what a court would award of 8% for being deprived of your money.
Tell them if you had that choice when you taken out the loan you would not have taken it, but as it was forced on you to take this out in order for you to have the loan - you were definately pressurised.

Tell them you believe they have overlooked your complaint and do not believe they fully investigated, and request they take another look.

It is up to you of course, but until you receive the details of the FOS with the final response keep at them.

Good luck with this.;)

Hi di,

Thanks for your reply. They have in fact said that the letter was their final response. They have included leaflets and FOS details on the letter. They have also included a form that I will need to fill should I accept the offer.

I will write them another letter this week as you suggested and will ask them to investigate further but will only give them 14 days to respond.

Will post any updates on this.

Thanks.

Hi and your welcome.

We did in fact also receive a final response of offers from LLoyds in Jan 2010, and they missed some facts and I made them aware of this and told them we believe they overlooked.
I did though give them 14 days to let me know if they could look at it again, so I would know then to move on to the fOS or not.

They then did confirm by email they were overturning the decisions in our favour due to some points raised with them.

So worth giving it a go anyway and if you hear nothing by 14 days move on to the FOS.

You could chase this up to ask if they are prepared to review on customer service here:
customer.care.insurance@lloydstsb.co.uk

Good luck with this please let us know when you hear, cheers.;)
