I have a Tesco credit card as well, which was upgraded to platinum a while back, although mine is Mastercard not Visa. My limit's been upped over the years and currently stands at £10k although I don't go anywhere near that. I agree with davelewis and would recommend it just for the Clubcard points. It probably hasn't got the cheapest APR but I pay off in full every month so that doesn't affect me.

On a separate note and just out of interest, davelewis, did you 'pay' for your trips to New York and Las Vegas by going through one of the holiday companies offered or did you collect airmiles?[/quote]

Yes - went though virgin holidays as they accept clubcard deals - the holiday was £2,300 (two people, 4 nights vegas and 3 nights new york). I had £500 in clubcard vouchers (which Tesco converted into £2000 virgin deals vouchers), so the holiday cost £300 in cash.

I know virgin are expensive (have been to New York a few times paying cash and would not book with them paying cash) but I seem to accummulate loads of clubcard points and its a great way of getting a holiday like that (2 cities) which i would not normally be able to afford.

By the way - mine is a mastercard as well - forgot to mention it earlier.

Are they still part of RBS?

Tesco credit cards are still run by the RBS/NatWest credit card centre, unlike Tesco savings accounts which are run by Tesco Personal Finance.
  • What is the best way to get free flights ?

Tesco Clubcard Credit Card (convert to BA miles or use Virgin vouchers)

    or

BA Amex card for BA miles

    or

Lloyds Duo Card for Airmiles ???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • does anyone know how Tesco judge the limit on cards?

I only got a £3k limit but I got £11k with Egg last June.

I guess the current finacial market is really taking its toll!

Do they ask for 3 years history?

I have been in UK for 2 years only, I have a good credit history, am on the electorall roll, have a credit card that I pay on time.... I only have no history prior to 2006. Virgin just rejected me (they said the can't find evidence of me for the last 3 years and if I can send them statements from 2006 which I don't have so it's a no)
  • if you want 12month on ANY purchase interest FREE then pick up a leaflet instore and apply... this offer is only available instore. I did it mtself and received my card in the post today .:)

I went to Tesco and picked up the leaflet for the 12 months 0% on purchases. Applied for the card and got a credit limit of £6500.

I have >£15k stoozed on other cards too. Can't grumble at all - I'll also be getting the clubcards points. Well done Tesco!

so if you've been declined a RBS card will this get declined? i.e. is it run by the same systems or are they independant of each other?

I have been told that Natwest have put an application block on me as I appealed an incorrect account with them and now they refuse to give me one for a year (almost up) but wonder if Tesco is in effect an RBS card or do they use a separate system?

It is serviced by: card services, southend on sea, essex?
    :o 2010 - year of the troll :o

I've got one of these cards.. there was a stand in our local store..!
I've just bought a used car on a 0% money transfer on my virgin card so needed a new card for day to day purchases..
I went for the 0% purchases one and they gave me an £8400 limit where as I only had a £4700 on my virgin one..! I always pay off in full (well did til I bought the car!)

currently looking for another very low fee 0% balance transfer one..

I am impressed so far as it's a master card so unlike the virgin which is american express I can actually use it in most places.. plus I'm gaining club card points!!
