How do you all do it if you don't have a frostfree freezer?

Big old roasting tin and lots of towels - also have it on a tiled floor which takes kindly to water:D

Have today so far done one load in the WM and OH has done all the ironing, cooked off a big pan of mince, onions, grated carrot and such and turned it into 3 meals of chilli for the freezer, two lasagnes (also for the freezer) and spag bol for tonight.

Last nights left over chicken has been stripped and there are two more meals - not decided what yet - and the bones are in the SC for soup.

Not much flying done in the decluttering sense but satisfying non the less.

Just had a sausage sarnie for lunch and now having coffee - next task find the dyson:rotfl:

Phew!! I've just spent nearly 2 hours defrosting the freezer, mopping up the floor and making a freezer inventory. There's got to be an easier way of defrosting a freezer surely? I spent ages scraping the ice off at first, then got the hairdryer out and tried to melt it all off, but then I ended up with a huge puddle all over the floor.

How do you all do it if you don't have a frostfree freezer?

I use the steamer thingy we got for taking the old wallpaper off. Didn't take too long, no scraping. Soaked it up with towels.

Just tripped over a smal boy and managed to walk into andfall over an ankle height wooden bar (building works, dont ask  ) and have twisted my ankle and my knee. Sat here with a bag of peas on it but looks like it is going to be a great set of bruises. Doesn't bode well for getting anything else done this weekend. Does someone want to make me a cup of tea?

rach - if you're not feeling 100% then don't try to do too much

Oddjob - how come you've got nothing to do. Have you.... FINISHED THE LAUNDRY???

sexymouse - I usually defrost my freezer when it's a bit warmer :p. I make sure I have frozen as many ice packs as I can get my hands on, and put everything into cold bags with them, or wrap it in newspaper and then like JayJay put a roasting tin in the bottom and a couple of rolled up towels by the door. And then I go away and ignore it for as long as possible :D . I do check and empty out the tin every so often, and if it needs speeding up I put a bowl of hot water in there. I don't try to chip the ice off as you risk damaging it. In this weather I suppose you could have left the food in a bag/box outside and it would probably be OK for a day or two!

I walked into the village and did my shopping.... lots more people in the shop than normal  . The slush has frozen, and the pavements are very slippery, although they are clearer in the centre of the village where there are more people walking on them and there's more traffic. The road through the village is currently clear but the surface is damp (so presumably a risk of ice later?). My road has frozen slush all over it. In some cases its packed down into sheets of ice, in other places there are ridges of ice with clear tracks in between.

I cleared the frozen snow off my car, but haven't been able to face the drive. On inspection, there's about 4-5 metres to clear, and it's about 4 inches deep... Its icy at the bottom where people have been reversing/walking along the pavement... I'm really not sure what to do about tonight. It depends partly on whether I can clear the drive and get out OK (it's down a slope) and partly on what the A339 is going to be like, but I'm not sure how I can find that out!

was just coming to that conclusion myself! tempted to go back to bed, feel a bit sickly and hot as well as a headache, hope i'm not coming down with something. Think I'll have a shower first as that should help! DH will probably do the hoovering too which will take care of a lot of the list in one go.

Back from swimming, I have left a note with for the teacher to see if they think it is worthwhile moving W to a Sat morning at the same time as Miss A but in the little pool. At the mo there are only 4 kids in that lesson, all a similar age so I think it would help him concentrate more plus the teacher is a man who seems to be tougher with them (not sure W would aprreciate this!). The added bonus would be that I only have to trek down to the pool once a week and we would get our Wednesday evenings back.... for now :rotfl:
