Too late toots. I think I am going to regret it tomorrow
and then I had a phone call canceling the meeting I needed the car for. On the other hand I don't have to worry about what the roads are like.

One major problem tonight is ds2 has fell asleep in ds1s bed, so he's having a bit of a hissy fit over that. Going to go try to talk him into sleeping his brothers bed again and i need to find some food.
Well done those with big completed lists x

Have a nice long soak in the bath, and a hot water bottle when you go to bed!

ETA - lil_me - I may have completed my lists, but I've avoided two BIG bits of work that I need to get done, and I haven't sorted out my CV or job applications. I guess my priorities aren't quite right at the moment

Hey everyone! So how are people? I have been doing stuff, just not posting much at all on here as everyone seems to have a much tidier house than me to start! Although if someone would like to see what I've been doing today I do have a list ;)

Of COURSE we'd like to see what you've done. And don't think for a moment we've got tidier houses than you... it's all about spin ;). It's not like we have to post photos to prove we've done it (oops... I can see Pigpen demanding piccies before handing out stars :p ) although I'm sure you must have seen some of the ones there have been on here, and they haven't been pretty!

I can't post pictures (work laptop, it's locked down), but I'm sure someone will oblige with an example of a hotspot (I'm sitting in mine, my study/ironing room) if it'll make you feel better!

I think it's because everyone (well seems like everyone) manages to do all or at least most of the list and I can't even get that far as I have clutter to clear through first :rotfl:

Ok this is my list from today. Got up around 10am and didn't finish until about 9.30pm, with various breaks in between:

    Ta Da's:

    Get up (eventually!)
    Put washing machine on
Take dry washing down, sort and fold
5 mins on 1 scary shelf (it's really worrying so I think 5 mins each time is the way to go)
5 mins clearing hallway (would be nice to not fall over things!)
5 mins on scary shelf (although I'm wondering where to put the stuff I've found now!)
See if set of shelves will fit behind lounge door...if they do then move the stuff that's behind there out and put shelves there (for toy boxes for now) (it will fit but then realised I need to empty a set of shelves first...doh! rolleyes.gif )
Take dry washing off clothes horse
Put wet laundry onto clothes horse
5 mins on hallway (it's horrible!)
5 mins on a scary shelf
Yet another 5 minutes on shelves!
    Feed myself and take medication
5 mins on hallway (I hate doing it!)
    Put next load on
Empty washing machine (when finished I'll do this 3)
    Hang up wet washing
Pick up 10 items from study floor and put them away
    5 minutes on shelves
    Iron 4 shirts
    5 minutes on shelves
    10 things from study floor
    Start tea, something broth/soup/stew like
    Fill dishwasher
    Empty washing machine
See if I can put contents of one shelf unit onto the other
5 minutes clearing kitchen table of bits (will put the box I haven't emptied back onto the shelves, children home soon and need somewhere to eat)
    Hang wet washing up
Put another load of washing on
Get drawers for unit downstairs (just moved out a set of empty shelves and put drawer unit for small girl there, means I can empty some more boxes)
Go through drawers and empty at least one box of clothes into drawers
Seal upstairs fireplace as there is a gale blowing through it!
    Empty another box into drawers
Make enough space on kitchen table for children
    Empty washing machine
    Clear away dinner stuff
Empty space for shelves and move them
Put away last box of small girl clothes
    Fill shelves with toys
Put small chest into hallway (stick a nice flower or two on it)
    Hang up wet washing
Fill washing machine and put on
Move clothes off floor and put in basket
5 mins clearing worktops and swish them!
    Fill dishwasher and put on
5 mins clearing lounge floor and sofa
    Have a coffee grin.gif

And my lounge is still a mess :rotfl: But then when it got to half nine I only managed 5 mins on it and couldn't be bothered to do anymore!

:T :T :T Well done Gryfon! :T :T :T That's a serious amount of work. Decluttering is the hardest bit, and when you first start doing it, it seems that you're just moving the mess from one room to the next  .

Everyone who has been on the thread for a while will tell you that they went through the same thing, but once you have been brutal and cleared the cr*p (remember everything can to be sorted into either throw away, give away or put away!), you need to sort out the storage, and then the cleaning becomes easy. Toots is STILL trying to ebay her way out of her house :p

It's clearing up the mess that takes the time. I don't have children, so if I've been good and not made mess myself :o , it only takes about 15 minutes to get to level 3 in the sitting room now. If I have stuff to put away, it obviously takes longer.

Anyway, you're making a great start. You're tackling the problems and working out solutions as you go along.

Make sure you have a rest and a treat (glass of wine, chocolate, DVD?, bath) to reward yourself for your hard work. And keep us updated on progress.

Lady_Liberty...I've been mooching on and off, may start posting my list here as well as another place I post it. Need more encouragement, especially when it gets to 3pm and I'm flagging

Greenbee...thinking about bed now! Already devoured my chocolate ;) Most of the stuff now in the house just needs a home, I now have more shelves in the airing cupboard and I'm waiting for some shelves in the bathroom for towels now.

I've been posting a list of 3 things to do and doing those and then taking a break. Still can't manage 30 minutes straight off, the 3's are between 10 minutes and 20 minutes long which is enough for me. I'm very excited though as I've managed to clear the cutter off my kitchen worktops and for the last week or two they've stayed clear :j Well now it only takes 10/15 minutes to get the kitchen clean which is fabulous!

  • WTG GRYFON thats an amazing list - you have been very busy today and well done with the kitchen - see you can do it - you just need to break it down into chunks that YOU can cope with - keep at it girl and dont be impatient - take your time and find proper homes for things and keep putting them away in the same place. excellent - you will def sleep tonight!!
    toots xx
    Peace will be mine
