Decorating to sell

Carpet is lovely and warm in a bathroom, and safe when feet are wet, but not very hygenic. I would avoid laminate flooring, as it has become very unfashionable now going by programmes on TV recently. A bit like decking, it has had its day from makeover overload. Tiles are great, but why go to that expense and work if moving, unless you get a bargain price somehere? I would suggest a good lino if cheaper. Keep it all neutral, with colour in the towels and accessories. Good luck.

I would advise against carpeting the bathroom, as it reminds people of grannys house, and will start smelling of wee in no time.
Most laminate woods are not suitable for bathrooms, because the humidity and the constantly wet floor will seep into the gaps between the planks, and almost certainly cause irreversible damage!
Try a neutral coloured vinyl floor: Wood-plank or tile effects would be non-offensive for 99% of your viewers. Also look for a non-slip vinyl. This will be indicated by an R10-R13 rating on the sample or sample book!
Vinyl planks and tiles, such as Karndean are great, however are much more expensive, and very difficult and time-consuming to fit. Not really worth doing if youre doing the house up to sell!!Profit=sanity

if the bathroom is coming out completely then I'd say tile the bathroom if you have the money, but tiling is bu$$er if it has to be cut round loos and sinks and can look naff if not done properly.
If your moving I'd stick with vinyl, many are really nice and can look like tile or wood so give the impression you want for a fraction of the cost.
Under floor heating is lovely I've got it in the kitchen and bathroom, but I would not pay the money for someone to benefit!0 -

Def just stick vinyl down. It will be the cheapest, easiest solution and is fairly warm underfoot. You are looking for something that won't offend and a reasonably plain vinyl won't offend. If you choose a tile that someone doesn't like they'd be thinking about how much of a nightmare it would be to change. BTW I had white tiles put in our bathroom and I don't like them. I'd go cream/beige if I did it again.0

Many thanks all - oh is in the bathroom as I type (while still in bed lol) - we've gone for light beige wall tiles, paint will (probably) be magnolia carried out throughout the flat and a neutral vinyl for the flooring. Thanks to everyone for their input.Thank you all who post.0

Sounds perfect. I hope you get a quick and painless sale.0

Don't go too mad. First question that should / will go through a prospective purchasers mind when faced with a newly decorated top to toe property will be "what are they covering up".
IMHO do not go to the expense of UFH or tiles in the bathrroom. You won't get your investment back. Hardboard it and use sheet vinyl flooring.0 -

I thought the general 'concept' behind having a WC in the house was that the occupants would wee in the WC, not over the floor. If you're spraying around enough to make the flooring smell......   :eek:0 -

No it won't.
It'll be "What a lovely house this is. It's just like a show home. I love it and I want to buy it."0
