I was talking to a bus drive the other day. He said he earns £35K basic, but if he works nights he gets a bonus that takes it up to £50K. He also gets danger money for going down the rough estate, plus share options that take it to about £75K.

Does this mean anything? Average salary bus driver 18k.

I mean if I thought I could earn anywhere near 75k driving a bus I would be applying for it.

Same place says Lorry Driver average is 18k.

  • . He also gets danger money for going down the rough estate.

Is that an optional part of his job depending on how he feels on the day? :D
  • My next door neighbour is a part time cleaner and he told me he earns about 100k a year. I think he must be saving it, as he drives a beat up old estate car and lives in a 2 up 2 down.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I am a Wincanton Class 1 driver (Artics) i work nights 5 days a week Sunday to Thursday and my basic is 27.7k and with my night rate it is 30.2k, and i work no more than 10 hours a night ( sometimes 6) and we have the best looking kit on the road and great people to work with. My wife is a band 5 oncology trained pediatric nurse and with overtime and unsociable hours she earns around 25k.
The only Drivers you will hear about earning that sort of money, are the ADR trained boys usually driving for the likes of Hoyer, and these people have either been with the company since day one or have been very lucky to get in. These are quite often DEAD MAN SHOES JOBS. The others would be the continental drivers and trampers. If your really brave then try the ice road!
I have heard however of some Tesco drivers who were still employed by Tesco earning around 30k-35k, However most have now been taken on by Eddie Stobart and are paid a lot less.
