I'm glad it's not just me with the soup problem
All anyone ever says to me is that soup is the easiest thing in the world to make
Surely beans on toast is easier:)
Thanks tessie bear:) - I do keep thinking about doing a bit more home baking. I have made home-made pizzas in the past, and they are far nicer than shop bought ones, so I will definitely start to do that again. No I don't buy own brand cereal as dh just refuses to eat it so it ends up just sitting there, not being eaten but I will probably try again with that too;)
This may sound strange, but does anyone cook the chicken for a Sunday roast the day before?? I was thinking of making the sweet and sour for dinner tonight, and putting aside the chicken for tomorrows roast in the fridge!! I don't usually do it like this so not sure how nice it will be to have cold/reheated chicken on a roast dinner.

hi...yes i can manage beans on toast (mostly)....i think cooking chicken night before is ok...if u like cold next day i personally wouldnt care to reheat it...my kids would moan it was cold but me and oh would eat it....could u hack up the chicken and use what u need for s and s then roast the rest tomorrow....which bits do u use for what ? so to speakonwards and upwards0

I usually use the leg/wing meat to go in the curry/sweet sour the breast meat for the roast dinner and any left over breast/other meat goes in the fridge for sandwiches etc...
I was thinking I probably wouldn't reheat it either...not sure, but I think the kids would be fine eating it cold.
I will have a think, to be honest I usually keep in a bag of chiken breasts in the freezer for a saturday night curry etc, but they cost more so hence trying to use the whole chickens for more meals :money:

Hi Tf you make your gravy, slice up the chicken for tomorrows lunch, place in a dish and cover with the gravy. You can then reheat in oven or microwave.0

Hi, I agree with mrslovetocook.......reheating the chicken will be fine. We have done this at home with the turkey on Xmas day to save having to have 1 more thing to cook from scratch along with the other 101 things!
Also what I like to do when we have Sunday lunch is deliberatly cook too much veg and then have bubble and squeak on the Monday, either on it's own as OH loves veg or sometimes cook some sausages to go with it. I think to myself that as the hob is on cooking the veg I may as well cook a few more rather than having to do veg again the next day then is more economical on the electric.0 -
Right I can't have Lasagne as my dish seems to have vanished!! I think I remember it breaking a while ago....
Right so back to the Chicken. I am being more cautious than normal at the moment because being pregnant, I would hate to give myself an upset tummy! I will cook it today and we will have it cold tomorrow.
I have stuck my meal planner on the wall in the kitchen too, so I don't forget what the meal combinations are and end up using the wrong ingredients in the wrong meals etc... also I thought that dh can express a preference to what he may fancy to eat that day....not that I will cook it, as I just cook what I feel like, but at least he feels like he is getting a say:)
Thank You.
