  • Hey guys :) My 2nd week of proper meal planning but didn't post last week. This will probably be the last full week of living in the flat (moving back to parents:() but will try to meal plan at parents still.
Trying to use up what we have in the freezer and trying to be healthier as I needed to buy some new jeans today and a size 10 is really tight for me. Still quite slim but I was a size 6 a couple of months ago so its a bit depressing.

Monday-OH-Birds eye spicy chicken fillet with boiled potatoes and veg
me- not sure yet, something with boiled potatoes and veg

Tuesday- HM toad in the hole using sausages we have in freezer with roast potatoes and leftover frozen parsnips from xmas

Wednesday-HM chicken curry and chips using curry sauce mix from farmfoods! Not very OS but it tastes so much better than what I could make!

    Thursday-omelette & chips with vegetables

Friday- frozen fish and chips with veg

Saturday- Frozen pizzas and potato wedges (instead of takeaway!!)

Sunday- Sausage, chips and curry sauce with lots of peas!

Breakfasts are either porridge or toast with raspberry jam, and dinners are usually either sandwich or tesco value instant curry noodles-you can't beat them!

PENGUIN83 - I'm on SW too! :j Following Extra Easy this week!
  • This is my third week, and I am finding it easier than trying to decide on the day what I'm going to make. Last week went a little bit astray, as I wasn't able on 2 days to cook the dinners, so dh and dd fed themselves with soup from freezer and baked potatoes.

I have decided to try at least one new recipe per week.
    So here goes;

Mon: Spiced root vegetable medley (in actifry) with haggis. (I got reduced after burns' day)
Tue: Phil Vickery's Easy Mince Hotpot with onions I'll do dumplings instead of his cobbler topping. I'll follow his recipe, but I'll tweak it so that my 500gm mince will do 3people at least 4 meals.
Wed: My tweaked version of JO's MOF fish pie
Thur: Hm Soup with hm crusty bread and baked potatoes probably with cheese
Fri: Lasagne (made with some of the mince prepared and frozen from Tue)
    Sat: Quick stovies
Sun: Roast dinner (meat, from freezer, yet to be decided) and veggies followed by hm trifle.

Breakfasts: help yourself from cereal, toast or porridge.
Lunches:Hubby takes packs, dd has lunch at school, I have whatever I can find lying
    around.

I've marked the new recipes in red , and as before this is my plan, but it isn't etched in stone.

    Hi
I am trying to get a grip on how much I spend on my shopping. I am part of the Grocery Challenge, although I haven't really had much success coming in under budget so this month I want that to change. For the first time I have actually made a meal planner, I have tried to include a range of meats, a range of carbs, and a range of veg or beans etc...do you think this is varied enough. There are a few 'quick' meals in there as sometimes we get in late and need a quick/easy meal. I have made-up 28 meals for this month.

    2 x Pizza and Wedges
2 x Sausage, mash, veg and gravy
2 x Sausage, chips and beans
2 x Fish, chips and peas
4 x Chicken, roasties, mash, veg, gravy, yorkies
2 x Chicken curry and rice
2 x Chicken sweet & sour and rice
2 x Minted lamb stew (one pot)
    4 x Spaghetti bolognese
2 x Beef and tomato casserole
2 x Chops, mash, veg and gravy
    2 x Lasagne

    For snacks
    Fruit
    Raisins
    Bread sticks
    Toast - jam/marmite
    Biscuits

    Desserts (for the kids)
    Yoghurts/mousses
    Ice cream
Swiss rolls and custard (all of us on a sunday)

    Breakfasts
    Cereals
Toast (I make our own bread

    Lunches
Sandwhiches - egg, tuna, ham, cheese, jam
    Jacket potatoes/beans on toast (me)
    Crisps
    cereal bars

What do you all think?? I am trying to get more ideas so I can do even better next month!
    Thanks

    Mel x
