I kinda agree with you about goldfish - we inherited ours, on the day we moved into our new house the previous owners (who were moving their stuff out) asked my four year old son if he would like the goldfish. Funnily enough he said yes!
They have always been in a tank in the kitchen (they have filtration and bubbles and stuff) but are getting mighty big for the tank. Can I put them in a pond with other goldfish or would the sudden change of temperature kill them?0 -
Lynn, you certainly can put them in a pond, but not yet, obviously!!As soon as it warms up,and you can test the temperature of the pond they are going in,and it is within about 4 degrees difference, the best thing to do is place them into the largest, strongest plastic bag you can,(aquatic places should have a couple they can let you have)with their tank water, and then float the bag in the pond, slowly adding pond water ,for about half an hour. You can kill fish if the difference is too great.
Sadly fish do not stop growing just because their environment is too small. What happens is that their internal organs keep growing ,but not their skeleton, which means they are getting compressed inside. This will cause them to get sick,as you can well imagine.
Lots of water changes until you can get them into a pond will ensure they stay healthy. They will be SO much happier.Whose pond are you thinking of?0 -
Please DONT have her put down. There are many animal sanctuarys that will take older animals to live out thier days there.I understand what you are saying about the children and the dog getting grumpy, but please consider what i have said.0

Just had a look at their website and they are obviously doing great work...
It makes me angry though to see all of the dogs who have been used for breeding and the just tossed away when they are no longer useful to the scum that use and abuse them, never showing them any love and affection
Yes somebody told me there are something like 77 breeding farms within about 10 miles of this centre hard to belive but if its true thats discusting .
Thanks god many tears helps them so much with so many unwanted ,blind and disabled dogs.
Not to mentioned all the other horror stories i check everyday so see who gets homed many get homed quickly so its all good.0 -
Just to recap, the dog has now been rehomed (for those who have missed a bit somewhere!) :-)0

See, if you'd taken your vitamin D you'd be a lot more alert and would have noticed his name around these parts....:p
off topic, but the vitamin supplier Ted recommended for SMALL vitamin D tablets was as good as Ted said, so I really can't knock him.... I'm a great beneficiary of vit D, I just don't go into it quite so wholeheartedly as Mr Hutch does - certainly don't get all me skin out of a mid-day:p :rotfl:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I like Ted's enthusiam... but I am glad my house does not overlook his garden, what with the nekked sunbathing in the back garden and all!! :rotfl:
However, the new MS research out this weeks proves he may have a point (as I am sure his neighbours are aware:rotfl: .... sorry!!)0
