What has this downturn taught you (if anything)?

Could we not turn this into another ''chavscum benefits sitting on sofa doing FA'' thread.....please? There are some better ones, if you search the forum, to post the above views.
On the contrary this thread is about what we have learnt from the downturn. My experience now that I have experienced the downturn is that irrespective of how much the man in Britain pays in to the governments' coffers is that when we need it we dont get any help. But they will give our money freely to people who have never contributed and in sums that take the mickey out of any British taxpayer.

Incorrect, it came to my rescue when I have needed it most.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
the downturn hasn't taught me anything but it's reminded me of what my grandad used to say:beer:
Neither a borrower nor a lender be for loan oft loseth both itself and friend. And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry - Shakespeare I think:j

I'd already decided to stop wasting money before the full scale of the downturn hit.
My jobs secure, house worth more than i owe, comfortable with all my outgoings.
It has made no difference whatsoever to my lifestyle.
What it's taught me is I should have never been wasting cash in the first place.0 -

Oh God. I don't know how many of my posts you need to read to get the message that I am a mostly heterosexual male, not particularly up for anything you may have in mind. When I say "I" it means of course the persona that this particular username attempts to convey. Using "doll" to refer to me is about the most ridiculous pet name imaginable.FungusFighter wrote: »I'm branching out:rotfl:
In fact I'm branching out just thinking about you doll
