What has this downturn taught you (if anything)?
The term 'Quantitive Easing'. This time last year I thought it was a Pink Floyd album.0 -
it taught me that savings do matter whether the interest rates are low or not. it also taught me that i should have acted on my instincts earlier and moved assets out of GBP into other stuff but i didnt follow up on that and now feel i literally flushed 20% savings down the toilet with the ensuing currency devaluation. guess you live and learn.
having a plan b is reassuring. glad i didnt get a fixed rate mortgage.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
It taught me not to be so honest in the future as its got me nowhere in the past:rotfl: . Try and do more cash jobs so I pay less tax and the "snouts in the troughs" in London can't waste my taxes on quango's ,consultants, dole scrounging scumbags .oh and the EU ..............

It has made me realise how fortunate we are not to have a 100% mortgage (I did once), that my job is fabulous (I wanted to leave 6 months ago) and that our remortgage to a tracker in October was one of the few good financial decisions we've ever made!
In terms of what I feel I've learned: nothing is certain or secure - not jobs, housing, money.
And that I will do my best to educate my children on all things financial, long before they leave home. I left home knowing nothing and I'm really quite fortunate that my ignorance hasn't cost me too dearly.0 -
Downturn has taught me....
To definitely appreciate my job working from home. Shortly may have to look at working for someone else rather than for myself due to decrease in work load and salary!0 -
It's taught me that the stock exchange is Ladbrokes for the middle classes.Stercus accidit0

It's taught me that there's always someone worse off than myself. And once I find that person I am going to celebrate big time. In your face, loser.0
