Last night checked website for 7ft new england tree - 3 in stock at Swansea branch.
Went there this morning and member of staff insisted they didn't have any trees, as everything not sold was sent back to HQ. Also, she said the website was wrong. Eventually she got someone to double check in their storage yard.
They found them, shrink wrapped to a pallet! However when scanned the price was £99. Luckily, I had the printout from the website showing the £14.30 price and after a little discussion with the manager, he honoured the price as a 'managers special'.
Extremely pleased - couldn't use the 20% voucher, but used my trade card to 10% discount.

Thanks, two sets of 160 bright white indoor/outdoor lights for £less than £15 delivered. Thanks added!0

I bought an 8ft Christmas tree in sweltering July for £50 and it was well worth it. I got it from ebay but Gumtree and freecycle had them on as well. I suppose people are either downsizing or summat.0

Tree I wanted is showing as 74! in stock at my local, went this morning, no stock, SA had the nerve to say well you should really ring up first, I told her I only wanted 1 of the 74 so thought it would be reasonable to assume there would be 1. Got the same crap about in a container to go back, she added though that the system shows it as £69.99 and I would have to pay that if I wanted her to get one, I said web says £8.80 she said web orders only, I told her it says store purchase only. I had to leave before I errupted:mad:
I am phoning Homebase Head office tomorrow and Trading standards about them advertising them as £8.80 but only letting you buy it at £69.99.AKA: PC

Folkestone had zero. And the other sale stuff was not inspiring. I used my 20% voucher on a tin of Dulux and a couple of light bulbs ( Bought Woolworths mega cheap pair of bedside lamps, got home - saw it says golf ball bulbs only...grr. Actually due to the wrong bulbs being stacked up on the shelf, I picked up too small bayonet type which scanned at the till at £2.50 instead of £1.49. So then a saga of trailing off to the shelf with a really nice sa, finding the correct ones hidden at the back, waiting at cs for refund. The refund was £1.80. Probably because I was wittering on to the cs sa about Tesco's refund policy!) Went to B & Q afterwards, bought nothing but noticed on a really high up shelf ( like 12') was a pile of shrink wrapped xmas decs and the shelf label said 10p. About to leave for Lapland I suppose.0

Staff, now they have seen what a bargain they are???
Oh, the lady on the CS desk did say that the staff had some put aside till the edict from HO came down not to sell them at that price. Given that the stock level showed 8 trees in stock the night before it would seem very possible to me that the staff wouldn't want customers to get them. But I can't imagine that staff nationwide decided to put their jobs on the line in this economic climate by phoning customers and telling them their tree wasn't there so the staff could buy them instead.Val.0 -

I also bought a tin of paint, plus some filler. How many others went for a tree and came back with something else?, maybe a huge conspiracy to lure us in to spend :mad:AKA: PC
