I prefer the rib pain to the constant pressure on the bladder I've got at the moment!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

She's got both, we think the baby's long as she was 59cm at birth herself:eek:
I think he can get hands and feet at both extremes when stretched, but luckily he likes to curl up into a little ball. I've got a very neat but huge sticky out bump most of the time!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Hello. Just wondering what other peoples experiences are of taking sick leave from work are. I'm 8 weeks pregnant now and really struggling with sickness, only seem to be sick on a night but feel sick during the day. Found it really difficult going to work today as feel really tired due to been up being sick during the night. Thinking of phoning in ill tomorrow. Don't usually have time off work but worried as only 8 weeks now and if I need any more time off if feel ill during pregnancy thinking I might end up with a bad sickness record. Main worry about this is I feel this might effect me if I try and move jobs in the future as I know employers generally want to know what your sickness record is. Any advice appreciated.
4 years ago with DS2 I was off sick from 7-8weeks, firstly due to hyper-emesis, then SPD then high BP. My boss was a nasty little slimeball and threatened to sack me (amongst other things), so I went a lawyer... anyway, sick leave during pregnancy (if accompanied by a sick line from your GP) can not be used as normal sick days (eg, calculating bonuses, the sick time formula for dismissal ect). Go to your GP (exagerate your ms if need be) and get a sick line, they are not allowed to penalise you in any way for being pregnant.0 -
Kate - I worked fulltime when I was pregnant with DS2, and I was trying to avoid taking time off when I was having rotten bouts of morning sickness. My supervisor told me that I could take time off whenever I felt ill due to the pregnancy, but that it didn't count on my sickness record as it was pregnancy related.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Kate - I don't know the law but I don't think you have to tell new employers your sick record
if you have an understanding boss then see if you could maybe start work a bit later and make up the time after usual finish or with shorter lunches or working from home if poss or spread 1 days holiday over a few day? therefore not needing to take a sick day
Just bobbing on quick in between finishing my overtime :j and going to make some tea (OH is insisting I eat).
Whilst you don't have to tell your new employer, when they ask for a reference they often ask for sickness records. I have a member of staff leaving in April - has been offered job subject to references but she hasn't told them about her chronic back problem. I will mark the reference with her sick absences and reasons and they can make up their own mind.
Kate - I hope you have a really understanding boss who you can speak to about this.
Chasing - contact the MW on the day they are due at your surgery and ask them or leave a message. You could contact the ante-natal dept at the hospital as they will book all the scans in so will know if referral received.
Keep on top of it as I have had many complaints about referrals not being sent but it was the hospital and not us!!!
Good night ladies and here's to more snow overnight:jA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
