Mothercare do a matress to fit that cot (IKEA singular) for only £30 this one here

It's the combo I am going for.

We had my DS's birthday party today, with 16 kids at home, so I'm feeling a bit cream crackered right now.

I am a bit fed up though because when she came to pick her child up, one of the mums said to me that her younger child has chicken pox and the child at the party hasn't had it, so she may be in her contagious period. I did have chicken pox when I was a child but very mildly and my kids have both had it. Will it do the baby any harm if I've been exposed to it again in first trimester though? I do think it was really really rude of her not to mention it beforehand given that her child is in the most infectious period (before spots show), and even though she doesn't know I'm pregnant, she also didn't know whether or not my kids have had it, and whether I'd mind them being exposed (and the other 13 kids at the party for that matter) if they hadn't.

Thanks for that! It amazes me that the tiny mattresses are more than the cots. But wouldnt put a price on little beanies health and comfort!

Been shopping with hubby today, I'm absolutely worn out... And we need to go and make the most of Aimee not being here to shift things around in her bedroom. We have at least booked her birthday party and paid the deposit... Going to cost a fortune seeing as there's 14 children we 'have' to invite... We've said she can only choose 3 more from school... But she was happy enough with that... We also went and made the most of her not being there by buying her birthday presents in the Argos Bargain Clearance shop... Always a good place to check when the new catalogue comes out!

Popped to Asda too but there was nothing in the baby event aisle... Hubby saw a swinging chair that we really need... I put him off buying it just yet though... Did get a box of wipes, 3 more white babygros and a pack of 2 cotbed sheets just to use my £5 off voucher before it expired

Oh and nearly chinned an old lady on the bus back from town... She turned round to me and said 'ooh, when's the happy event?' I said May... She said Blimey, are you having twins or triplets? Then started going on about the octopus woman in America!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

We used that type for DS2 (but it was over £90 as it was a larger cot!) and it was great. Comfy, firm and although my old one didnt have a spare top sheet, it did have the removable one which was great, stick it in the wm and it dired in about 10mins over a radiator or on the line. The spare one with that one will be ace. Also it was still in good condition after him using it for 3 years (it fitted the little junior bed too).
Seen some matrresses that are more expensive than ours!!!

Nicki if you've had it then you don't need to worry about being exposed to it again but i do agree she should have said something!

OMG!!! what an inconsiderate mother!
My best friends LO's have just had chicken pox and luckily I handn't seen them since they'd been exposed but it's ment I've had to stay away for about a month.

Even if you've had chicken pox before you CAN still catch it a 2nd time and it can be quite bad for the baby (I'm sorry if this scares you but you need to make sure you see the GP) you have two options, wait and see if the child gets it or not and if they don't then you know you should be fine or go straight to GP where they will do a blood test and will deal from it from there.
The chance of catching it a 2nd time is very slim but not impossible.

Info I used when I found out my friends LO had it is here

    evening all,

missed the end of the gordon ramsey show last night as hubby came up to bed and as usual took over the control of the telly

had a look in mothercare today for going home outfit for bubs. i want all white. i have the sleepsuit but need to get cardigan type thing, hat, shawl (my nan was knitting me one but has been very poorly recently so haven't asked her about it). mothercare (which was in a different town) had nothing. i wasn't happy. might try another the one in my town.

hubby picked a crib last night but i know keep thinking about a moses basket. for space reasons really. oh i dont know.

got some non wired bras today. worried about the nursing ones due to my size, must search the old thread becuse i know we were talking about places to get them last week, but i didn't make a note

    hope everyone else is well.

oh and i had a dream last night that when i delivered my baby it was a boy and he was a toddler all ready so i missed out on the 'baby'.

I got some underwired ones from M&S today. Lady said that they were not recommended, I said it was baby 6 and I was always ok before, breast fed all for 6 months. She laughed and said I think you'll be fine!

Spent all day out with a friend, no children.
Too many children, too little time!!!
    :p
