if you are in a job where you are paid the same each week then dont worry about the bit about when it is calculated from.

I won't be having any maternity pay... And I don't really have any income of my own anymore apart from tax credits and child benefit...
Was going to write a big rant about my hospital appointment today but I don't know if I can be bothered... I knew it was a waste of time and bus fare... And it was... and I hurt my pelvis by doing 3 running steps for the bus before I remembered I was pregnant...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

so... whatever you earn between weeks 17 and 25, average it (lets say for arguments sake you make about £250 a week) you will get £250 for 14 weeks, then £117 for the remainder. Now that is a really good deal you're getting. What I would do is make that budget, try and live off the £117 the first 14 weeks and save the remainder for emergencies. Trust me, you will be fine if you use some common sence. Meal plan for the week, shop online so you only buy what you need, a take away treat becomes a cooked chook from asda or a supermarket heat it up at home chinease meal for two. Make double loads of spaggy bol so you can freeze some for a dinner when you havent much time, it can be spaggy bol or lasagne....0

Me either, will get my carers allowance back from June when college is over, then it's hubbies wage. But lived off it for the past 2 years before I went to college so it's no biggie.
Sorry about the wasted day, claim your fare back!0 -

i received a letter from my work about my pregnancy and maternity etc. i dont understand it though
it says >
'maternity pay is is payable for a total of 39 weeks. our company policy is that the first 14 weeks will be paid at 100% of your average earnings. we calculate your average earnings by taking the average of 2 months payments prior to your qualifiying week which is the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth, these are then calculated as weekly payments. The last 25 weeks are payable at the lower rate of SMP.......' etc etc.
can anyone explain this to me?
It means you will get full pay for 14 weeks, then 25 weeks at £117 per week. Full pay is calculated on your average salary but if you earn the same every month (and have done for the last 6 months) then you don't need to worry about this bit.0 -
shop-to-drop wrote: »Thanks for introducing yourself Nicki when are you due and how have you found the pregnancy and your maternity care so far?
I will be 7 weeks tomorrow, so due on 3 October. This is baby no 3. Have a DS (9) and DD (8) already. Had my first scan on Tuesday so seen bean and heartbeat already. Very happy with my care. Its not NHS and its the same obstetrician who delivered 1 and 2, and looked after me prenatally for them and same hospital, so know what to expect really!0 -
Hello all, hope everyones ok, hope your resting feelie?
Workmen gone but just went to answer the door to friend earlier and noticed flakes of paint on the floor. Where the carpet fitter has banged in the room above the paint and plaster have come off the edge of ceiling below. Great, more work. Foreman was really rude when I phoned to tell him, grumpy man!Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
