not knowing what to expect can you lovely ladies help me out? Its been over 21years since my mum/mil had a baby and i know things have changed, dont want to ask friends as none of then have been told yet...

what to expect with my first midwife appointment?
when do you have your first scan?
is it normal to feel all bloated and sometimes umcomfy to sit this early?
why dont i feel sick? (not a bad thing i know but everyone seems to get it!)

First midwife appointment - or checking in app. - expect LOTS of questions about your lifestyle, family illness history etc and you'll get a tonne of leaflets.

first scan usually at 12 weeks but they will discuss that with you at the midwife appointment - some have them earlier depending on circumstances.

Yes it's normal :) eat lots of greens and fruits - it will help a little :)

Don't knock not feeling sick! I had morning sickness till week18 and it sucked! Mine landed me in hospital round week 6 from severe dehydration and it's not fun! I think only 1 in 4 of women get morning sickness so it's perfectly normal not to get it :) Most of my friends who have had kids didn't have morning sickness...

Depending on how far along you are... you might still get it too ;)

DH came to asda with me thismorning (I wanted to go out for breakfast and I needed to get milk, bread etc anyway) and we bought... the bedding bale with bumper, the little bouncy chair (it looks sweet), moniters and the avent weaning set (will be using avent bottles again and the little food storage cups are great for EBM). He is starting to slowly not get excited but get used to the idea. :j I had a wee tear when he was looking and grabbed stuff.

And yeah, I kinda know it's too early (10/2) but I swear I can feel movement, not kicks, just kinda.... vibrationy twitchy kinda voodoo. Well it is baby number 3 so maybe (plus MW put me at 11weeks today, but scan which was very early puts me at 10/2). Can feel it sitting upright on a chair but not lying back.

Also, yeah for not feeling sick this morning! Just the usual if you think of something yuck you will retch.

Made a big step today, I walked down the Baby clothes isle in asda, and actually touched an outfit and thought it was quite nice! Then decided that it was a bit too light green, and bought some melons instead. Getting closer to buying though!

Talking of tears. Went car shopping yesterday, and half way through looking at them, I decided they were all horrible, I hated every single one of them and they were all very uncomfortable. Even the brand new BMW. Then I got all tearful. Sales guy gave me a hot chocolate and I felt much better!

jillie I think the biggest lesson I learnt was that everyone is different :) How I feel isn't how you're going to feel and you need to remember that it's ok :)
I've had severe morning sickness and then really bad indigestion and a lot of bereavements means I start crying at the drop of a hat at the moment... not easy when you have a high stress job anyway :(
Others have bloomed and have had no problems, others yet again have a whole different set of medical concerns and complications... everything is relative and unique to you :) don't worry if you don't follow the times lines spot on - your body hasn't read the same books and leaflets you have and the baby certainly hasn't! ;)

a question ladies...not pregnancy related, but children related:-

do you (those that already have children) have a favourite nursery rhyme book? was watching something on telly last night that was talking about nursery rhymes and i am going to need to refresh my knowledge for those nights when i am trying to get bubs to sleep.

    any suggestions welcome

I spent the first few weeks singing "killing me softly" to Chris :p also i wouldn't bother with CDs as they tend to be aimed and jolly toddlers not soothing babies ;)

I just picked up the nursery rhymes from going to groups and also the HV gives u some free books and stuff called Bookstart and there was some in there.
From an MSE standpoint I'd just google nursery rhymes for the words :D

Sorry about the FB thing - I just panicked, thought with the group saying MSE, people could find thier way here, and I would not like that! I'm far too open on here :o

I've got HV tomorrow hopefully, if the snow isn't too bad. Its clearing a bit so she should be able to get here. Will ask about antenatal classes.

If there are baby things at costco, I suppose I really should go. I could get some big cakes while I'm there too, and a big pizza. Mmmm
