I got suspicious when I looked at the questions asked. It seemed quite superficial.
If you are interested in buying wine by mail order take a good look at The Wine Society , a cooperative run for the benefit of its members and which has an impeccable record.Do not of course take my word for it, there is masses of supporting detail to be found on the internet. They buy on value not price but not being a profit making organisation they sell at supermarket prices.
Look at the Wikipedia entry0 -
These people want to get a job, I mean a proper job, not trying to scam everyone.
I am still waiting for my alarm clock , so if they are reading this ....drop it into the charity shop.:rotfl:0 -
I don't care who the company are, and whether their product is valid or not, or rubbish or not.
At the end of the day, I'm registered with the MPS ... I have a problem with the company sending me unsolicited and illegal mail.
I have tonight sent a Freedom of Information request, asking them to disclose how they got my details, and a Data Protection Request that they remove me from their records.0 -
Interestingly, my 17 year old daughter just received the letter about the clock and tasting. Is it even legal to send this to an under age person?:mad:0

The mailings are not respectable on two grounds.
First, they are misleading. The offer of "a sampling of 6 specially selected...wines...free of charge and without obligation" will make 99% of recipients think (as with the clock) that they will be sent six bottles of wine, rather than an intrusive salesperson who will offer some tastings in a glass, to persuade you to buy!
Secondly, they are in my case and many others ignoring the Mailing Preference Service.
Their wines may be great, but in my view a company that behaves like this should be avoided.0 -
I was interested in one of the daily deals on kgbdeals until I googled the company name (Vicomte Bernard de Romanet) and found this thread. I take it for £9 I'm paying for a wine sales rep to come round and try to sell me and my friends some wine???
If so I'm not so interested!

Yeh, right. And when does the patent on this miraculous process that produces hangover-free wine actually expire?0 -
my mother filled out this survey and was called to arrange a free tasting. the rep arrived on time and was very nice, not pushy at all and i ended up ordering some wines on the basis of the 9 samples he gave us. i agree that the wines are not cheap, but i found the opportunity to try before you buy a great help, as i find the range available in supermarkets a bit daunting and often just buy the multibuy offers without even considering the nicer wines!
it remains to be seen whether the rep will call as frequently as previous posts have claimed, but it was worth a free tasting, and there is no obligation to buy again in the future, and if i cant afford their prices next time, i'm sure a simple no thanks will suffice when they call. having been a customer of virgin wines in the past i prefer not having an obligation to order, and the monthly 'winebank' direct debit that virgin deemed necessary.0 -
Well, first mine tasting was a couple of months ago, £9.00 through Groupon. I made it clear before booking that i didn't want any heavy handed selling and was promised there would be none. Lickily for the rep there wasn't.
2nd session booked for this Saturday, for 7 of us, again through Groupon, at £12.00 this time.
Personally I'd recommend the tasting evenings as fun. We would have bought wines, but not at £12.00 a bottle, out of our price range, especially as I need to buy a case, not individual bottles.
Also, as host, I get a free bottle anyway, so that covered the cost of hosting!!0 -
I've been trying to redeem my Groupon voucher for the last month and have had no response from them at all.
They say they will contact you within 15 days but have had no replies despite sending them all the info they need.
Groupon gave me a tel number which noone picks up and has no answerphone. I have asked Groupon for more help.
I have looked at their website but the only tel number is the one I already have and so have emailed them again off their website.
I live in Southampton. Has anyone any experience of them in th South?
I am worried that I will not be able to redeem my voucher before it expires and also am annoyed as wanted to do it with friends for my partners birthday.
As you can imagine I do not have a very good impression of them right now . . .0
