Thanks for the advice
I think I'm going to start by cutting out meat when I eat out (mainly because it's hard to find out if it's been ethically farmed of not!) and I will definatley be trying one new recipe a week
I'll be honest though, the thought of soya milk scares me somewhat! I'm really picky with milk in general, and I'm a bit scared to try it incase it's horrid..Feb GC: £197 :T / £320 Feb £5 a day challenge: £ / £145

Ok I was very worried about pure but looked on the website says it is made by matthews food. Bernard matthews has a different company address. I hope this means that they are two different companieds with a similar sounding name. I hope the vegan society would not approve something made by the same company that is involved in intensive inhumane farming?
Ok after more searching. Ethical consumer rate pure very highly - I seriously doubt they would do this if it was owned by bernard matthews as companies get points deducted for dodgy ethics.0 -
Thanks Veganclaire, I was just coming on to say Ive had the email I sent returned, must have got the address wrong  As you said I dont think the vegan society would approve of it if it was true, sounds like one of those urbane myths.Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

It sounds like she made the association herself - put two and two together and came up with five0 -

Soya milk really isn't that bad. Try and get the unsweetened stuff as I think that's the one that is closest to milk in taste. You're never going to get quite the same taste as a big glass of cold milk but it's totally fine in cooking and in tea/coffee. You can usually get some mini size cartons at health shops if you want to try out different types of milk (e.g. unsweetened/sweetened/rice/oat/nut etc).
On a different note I'm back from the dreaded conference. I think i'm seriously protein depleted and have left a very long essay about my problems with the food and some pointers about nutrition on my feedback form. :mad:0 -

This really winds me up, especially when you offer guidance or to bring some food and they tell you it is ok then don't cater properly. I have travelled quite a bit over my years of veganism and found one of the best places was Romania (was quite supprised). In France I was regularly offered fish! Hope your feeling better now and have eaten lots of delious protein rich foods.0
