As for your food stash all I can think of at this time of night is plenty of fruit, and you know those Alpro desserts that dont need to be in a fridge, they do them in chocolate, vanilla and another flavour which I cant remember and havnt tried yet. Enjoy your trip and let us know how you get on with the food when you get back.Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

Just to let you all know I got some results back, no they weren't good (I'm not healthy )and no I don't wish to talk about it... It just makes things worse for me.
(I CANT STRESS ENOUGH IT IS TOTALY UNCONNECTED TO ME HAVING BEEN A VEGAN!!!!!)
I'm now having what I'd say is a bit of a break down.
I'm a bit scared as I have a family history of psychosis... and it's bad experiences that triggered it in my family members.
Soooo hey ho I'm trying to stay positive.
I'm still trying to be a vegan when I can... BUT I had a burger the other day
I'm eating what I can at the moment and I got to a friends and they were having a barbecue with no vegan/veggie options :mad: other than a salad sandwich without spread and I don't want to make myself any more ill than I am but not getting enough of all the things I need.
I was thrilled to win a comp the other day... opened it up and it was a hairbrush I was like wooooo!:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
Then I read the label and it's made out of boar bristles ewww I feel as though I need to do some veggie hail marys or something lol.
Oh and slap my wrists because I got carried away with comps and bought 3 boxes of Magnums oh I forgot how good they taste... they ARENT vegan and probably not even veggie :eek::( :eek:but I won £10 and I've only opened one box...
So I might use it to buy some dog toys and take them to nearest sanctuary or something :embarasse sorry sorry sorry

Cold bean salad... using tinned cooked beans.
I think thinks like samosas and bhaji and spring rolls that type of thing keep well in an airtight tub...
ummmm....... TBH personally for me anything your willing to eat cold(room temp lol) pretty much?!?!
As with most vegan food as long as you store it in a container it doesn't have the same risks as food containing meat and dairy.
Make a 'pot noodle' if you can access a kettle.
I've seen rice noodles that all you need is a kettle for in cheap shops.
You could have it with some sweet corn and peas and maybe some soya?
Add some of the Curry powder (see below) and you have your very own 'pot noodle'
I've also seen some vegan cup a soups might be ogran? in cheap shops you have to check the ingredients though I can't remember the names!!!!

AS WITH ANY RECIPE... YOU CAN DOUBLE TRIPPLE QUADRUPLE UP IF YOU WANT TO STORE SOME EXTRA TO BE ULTRA FRUGAL!!!!
Nectarine and marzipan slice.
Serves 6
1 sheet ready roll puff pastry
150g marzipan
2 nectarines
2-3 tbsp apricot jam
Unroll the pastry onto a sheet of greasproof paper and score a 2cm border around the edge. Roll the marzipan out and place inside the border. Slice the nectarines and arrange the slices in three lines down the length of the marzipan. Gently melt the apricot jam in a saucepan and spoon over the nectarines. At this point the slice can be kept in the fridge for a few hours and baked just before you are ready to eat.
Heat the oven to 200°c. Place the slice on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes.
Nice warm with vegan ice cream but also good on the go.I'm an MSE SLACKER!!!! Slap my bum.

HERE IS A NICE SANDWICH FILLER...
Avocado, tomato and pesto mayo sandwiches...
ripe avocados
tomatoes
vegan pesto
vegan mayonnaise
lemon juice
salt and pepper
nice bread such as panini, ciabatta or baguettes
Scoop out the avocado flesh and mash in a bowl with a squirt of lemon juice and a small amount of salt and pepper. Slice the bread open and spread some avocado mixture onto the bottom half and a thin layer of vegan pesto followed by a thin layer of vegan mayonnaise onto the top half. Slice the tomatoes and place in the middle, then cut the sandwiches into bite-size portions to serve.
Twinks to talke this away with you i would reccomend leaving the filling off the bread etc untill you want to eat it so it doesnt go soggy.
You can always take some ice blocks and my tip for staying in hotels and keeping things cool is ask for some ice... put it in the sink with your stuff and fill with water.I'm an MSE SLACKER!!!! Slap my bum.

I'm sorry to hear you aren't very well:( My OH has mental health problems so I really hope you'll have an upswing soon! You really relly really (see the emphasis here) don't need to worry about being a 'good' vegan. Even just reducing the amount of animal products you eat is going to be a huge step in the right direction. And if you have the occassional burger or icecream then it isn't the end of the world! As for the hairbrush I'd say if you really don't want to use it then give it to charity. Then you've had a lovely winning moment and you've done something nice for the world. Double bonus.
On the supermarket front I think some vegans avoid them because they prefer to buy from completely ethical shops (or as much as possible) and supermarkets tend to have some dubious ethics e.g. supporting animal testing, buying factory farmed meat etc. Some just avoid them because they sell so many animal products in general. So far I haen't been able to get away from the convenience of the supermarket shop but I'm planning to start using my local shops way more but I have to get a fair bit more organised. I have a greengrocers, butchers (for OH), hardware shop and generic corner shop (for toiletries and catfood) all within my little suburb and I pass a health food shop where I can get most vegan goodies when I get the bus to work. So in theory I should be able to buy just about everything without visiting a supermarket.
Also thanks for all the ideas and recipes. I may try out the sandwich filling idea for lunch - it sounds scrummy!:j0 -
Twinkle star - in the free from sections in supermarkets they have mash pots (a bit like pot noodel but mash) might be nice for you trip.
Dried fruit? Naked bars - really nice and count as a portion of fruit.
Some vegan milk and marg for cereal and toast.

I have been invited to an interview and lunch is provided on the day. Should I tell them in advance that I'm vegan or just bring my own lunch? Not sure which way will have less questions don't really want to get into reasons for being vegan at an interview0 -
Will have a hunt around for mash pots but naked bars definitely a good idea. My local Mr S. has apple pie and pecan pie flavours.
I'd probably let them know you're vegan otherwise it'll be a bit odd when they wheel in the sandwiches and you refuse them all! If they sound woried by the idea of vegan you can then say you'll bring food but if the interview is for a biggish place then generally lunch is done by caterers so they'll have a set thing anyway.
If they ask and you don't want to get into the ethics thing (can be a bit like talking about politics/religion - ie very bad) then you can either just give a non-commital i'm not really sure I just kind of did, or say you did it for health reasons. There's a woman at my work who eats vegan food as part of her health/weight loss diet and the Gillian McKeith plan is almost vegan (she reluctantly allows a bit of white meat/fish but definitely supports veganism) so people find it a bit more 'normal'.
