Also Tesco value soya milk no longer says its vegan - I was concerned about the vit D in it so bought alpro. Does anyone know if it's vegan or not now?
Hi,
I just wanted to point out that this still says suitable for vegans, just not on the top as before, but on the side. I am not saying you should buy it of cause, just that the company states it vegan, just not vegan society approved, as most vegan items.
Lots of salad cream is vegan, its just a matter of reading the labels and seeing which ones don't have eggs in etc. A few of the diet/weight watcher type ones and I find quite a few in cheaper shops, that you don't see in supermarkets.
Hope the newbies are all still doing well and good to see the food diaries. My diet is so boring at the moment, as we are running supplies down, ready for moving in 2 weeks.

Last night for tea I could not be bothered to cook (I work long days) so I just bunged a bag of baking potatoes in the oven, and we had a baked tattie - the kids had cheese and beans, I just had the beans with some salad with mine. There were five leftover that I was thinking I'd heat up for lunch or whatever.
Isn't it funny how things work out somehow?
This morning I was browsing the book "vegan with a vengeance" which I borrowed from the library. I was reading a recipe that I'd always fancied trying, but never got around to. The first thing you need to to is bake potatoes and then leave them to cool! So it's potato gnocchi and tomato sauce for dinner tonight. The kids will get some pork with theirs as I have taken some out of the freezer to cook (as part of my storecupboard challenge to help me free up some space for the things I want to have in there!)0 -
Anybody tried Koshari? I have never heard of it before today.
Here is a link

Hey guys,
I still use Pure - has anyone mentioned on here about Olivio, I can't remember if that's vegan or not?
Justamum, I warn you if you get the BGTY salad cream, you'll start being like me and Zahava and have it on everything! As a bit of a disclaimer, anything I post on here is vegan-verified (to make our lives easier!!) so you can buy them straight away - but it would be really helpful to have updates if people have heard differently (like Olivio above!).
Food diary
Monday:
Rice Kripsies, pumpkin and sunflower seeds.
Strawberries
Leftover weird mushroom soup (weird, because my soups are more like thick yoghurt!!) and Alpro soya yoghurt
Doves Farm cereal bar
LM pie, jp and salad (can you tell I'm not feeling the force at the moment....)
Would have done curry but sis and her boyf came over and just did them a quick stir-fry. Will do veg curry tonight. I think I'm still in holiday mode - need to snap out of it and get back to cooking.0 -

Hi all,
What a great thread, I have just discovered it and am reading it from the beginning so I can pick up all your great hints and tips, thank-you.
My daughter (16) and I (?) are vegans, my middle son (18) is a veggie, my youngest son (9) will only eat meat on "special" occasions; basically this means when I can afford to get him sausages from a local free range farmer which is when I go to the farmers market once a month! I buy him 8 sausages so he gets 2 sausages a week, the rest of the time he eats what we eat and then there is my eldest son and my OH who love meat but only get it when DS (9) has his sausages or when they cook it themselves!
Anyway I will get on with reading this, thanks again.0 -
Thanks justamum and waggledancer. Welcome Lovelovinghorses, really hope you can get something out of being on here, I think we all have in one way ( :money:)or another (:j)
Food diary
Yesterday:
Porridge with mixed copped nuts (I think 79p from Sains, last a couple of weeks if used sparingly) and agave nectar for some extra low GI
Soya yog with berries (£1 Basics frozen from Sains, bag lasts three days so I buy two a week as I love berries)
Jacket and beans from canteen
Packet of crisps (yes, bad)
Pasta with Tesco own sauce, green beans, sweetcorn and chickpeas (an assortment, if you will)
Today:
Rice Krispies, sunflower and pumpkin seeds
Dovers Farm cereal bar (on offer)
Pasta left over from last night
Packet of crisps (I know, I know)
Veg curry (green beans, cauliflower, sweetcorn, broccoli - all frozen and defrosted during day - fresh carrot, brown and easy-cook rice). Made enough for hubby tomorrow - not having dinner as people coming round for a stag/hen buffet party thing _party_ - and enough rice to freeze an extra emergency portion
Tomorrow: porridge, have made a tomato and lentil soup for lunch which I'll have with a wrap. Must not have crisps!
Was channel surfing last night :shhh: and found an old Naked Chef episode. Although it was a salmon dish, the accompanying veggies looked yum:
green breens, cherry toms of all sizes (some chopped) and garlic, swizzle over some olive oil and roast (was thinking you could add peppers and courgettes....). Made me think it could go with pasta for a more substantial meal, or be the basis of a lovely warm salad. You may scoff if you do this regularly, but I'm more of a vege boiler so it was inspiration for me!
That reminds me, now we're heading for warmer weather, anyone got ideas for lighter lunches and dinners?0 -
