Hello again,
Well I've not had much excitement on the food front as I've been using up soups and leftovers. However, I was trying to figure out what to do with the leftover khichdi and I decided to try out making some kind of burger/pattie type thing.Was surpisingly nice and fairly healthsome i supect. I just mashed up the leftover khichdi (spiced beans and rice) and added handfuls of seeds and things. In my case this included ground almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, ground flax seeds, sesame seeds and chopped walnuts. I then left them in the fridge to rest for a while before I fried them over quite a high heat.Very nice with ketchup and veggies!0 -

Sounds yummy. I often make burgers out of leftovers - very OS0 -
Ive only just realised this thread is active again, it went quiet for a while and I got lonely and gave up checking. Ive just spent ages trying to catch up and jot down yummy recipes :j I think I became a vegan around the same time as Twinkle_star and have stuck to it, but since Ive stopped checking the thread Ive stopped trying new recipes out and tend to stick to the same 'safe' meals, so Im looking forward to trying out new meals again.Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

was reading today, that in Egypt McDonalds do a McFalafel , basically falafel shaped into a patty and fried like a normal Falafel, then into a bread bun with lettuce, toms and minced onion. The special sauce is tahini yogurt dip (tahini, soygurt, lemon juice, chilli & coriander if you want). Might give it a go.0

Has to be said that this vegan lark is doing wonders for my cooking, I had become a bit egg and cheese dependant as a vegetarian, I am now eating many more beans and veg
Sadly however its not cheap as I can only buy my fruit and veg at my local Somerfield (its all I have
)
And its helping DD's excema, mucho improvementI have also started having hemp seed oil in my banana smoothie (for the Omega 3)
Have got some cupcakes in the oven atm ...:jClaire

Hi Betty1 I definitely found that going vegan has really helped my cooking. I've tried so many new recipes and foods since I changed my diet. Was definiteky stuck in a rut before.
On the food diary thing I went to a barbeque yesterday and had much delicious food. Ironically none of it was actaully barbequed but we did eat it outside so it sort of counts. I had:
Falafel burgers (made from a packet mix by Orgran) in a bun with mixed salad and vegan mayo.
Couscous salad thing (peppers, tomatoes, spring onions, celery, etc).
Potato salad made with vegan mayo, spring onions and lots of gherkins.
Pakoras - i didn't make these but as far as I could see as a spectator of the chef they had sweetcorn, yam, ginger, spices, gram flour and possibly more. They were deep fried and beyond delicious. :T Am totally going to have to find the recipe online.0 -
Now that we are having nice weather I'm using lots of suncream. At the moment I have a Lavera one which is lovely, no nasty chemicals and vegan soc approved - unfortunately this will be quite expensive to replace. Does anyone know of anywhere cheap that does a vegan suncream? Was wondering if superdrug might as they label some of their stuff vegan.
Am inspired by the lovely recepies think I will have falafel for tea0
