Unfortunately I LOVE cheese and having tried some vegan cheese recently, know that this will be a real problem for me. Any suggestions?

I get a lovely vegan cream cheese type thing from Holland and Barratt, it comes in a shallow, round tub but I can't remember who makes it. It is so lovely I end up eating some straight out the tub with a spoon, but would generally recommend eating on toast, bread, jacket potato etc. Absolutely lovely on Jacket potato.

Holland and Barrett also sell lovely nut roast mix, that you just add water too. Mix up, chuck in oven for about 45mins, absolutely yummy. DH eats this too and he's a horrid meat eater!

Linda Mccartney sausage rolls are yummy, just chuck in oven from frozen. Probably not as good as homemade ones but I'm a useless cook.

Ooooh, I think a 'cheese' shopping trip is in order :) There's a H&B in my work town and a couple of fantastic ethnic/health shops in Brighton, so I should get off my lardy butt and start looking into it!

    Thanks everyone :)

I think you'll find that it's either tofutti vegan cream cheese or it could be sheese creamy. I think the tofutti one taste better. My partner really likes the tofutti ones aswell but we both kind of gagged on the sheese ones :o.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

Yes, Tofutti is the one, could not remember the name but sure remember how yummy it is, I've always been a cheese freak so need this to keep on the vegan straight and narrow.

  • Just in case anyone's not tried it, the sour supreme (tofutti again I think) vegan sour cream is amazing!

Thanks meerkat girl, it's great to know that the sour cream is good. I have some sitting in the fridge just waiting to be tried, I have this odd thing where I buy something I've not had before and I'm so worried that I won't like it (because I'm fussy and I really want to like it) that it just sits in the fridge til 1 day before it's useby date then I try it, sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised and I like it (like the redwoods cheatin chicken and tofutti garlic and herb)and sometimes I am not (like redwoods pepparoni slices and pure cheese spread), how silly am I? I should be braver.

I must admit I do the same thing Zahava! I also don't like the pepperoni slices (yucky and greasy I thought).

Have you tried the new Redwoods quarterpounders? They are yummy! As they are a bit pricey I only buy them for me - the rest of the family will eat eggs so they can have the Tesco's veggie burgers :D
  • I'm desperate to find a really nice margarine - to be honest, my big stumbling block against becoming 100% vegan is butter, because I hate margarine and so many things need some sort of spread to be nice.

I don't like the Pure soya or sunflower - what else has anyone tried? I feel so pathetic to buy into animal suffering just because I'm too greedy to live without butter...

Justamum Nooooo!! I didn't even know they did them, I want some now! It's really difficult to find vegan burgers, I have just been using the granose burger mix and making them myself but they go a little crumbly, did you get them in H&B?

Juliapenguin - I use Rakusens Tomor kosher margerine, I really like it it's my favourite one and also marks and spencer dairy free marge I like too but I will only use the pure out of desperation.

Do you all know that starburst are vegan?
