Hi Guys :hello:
I've decided to make a trifle this Christmas, yum yum :j
I can make the sponge without eggs, fruit is ok, can get veggie jelly, use alprosoya custard, but I'm stuck on the cream bit. I can get alprosoya single cream but I can't whip that can I? Do any of you know why they don't make double cream? Can I get soya double cream from anywhere else? Or squirty cream? Also, on the subject of cream, can I use single cream for potato dauphiose? ( would lay money that I spelt that wrong!)
All ideas gratefully recievedSay it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

You can get a whippable soya cream soja-saane from Granovita (you can get it in health food shops).
However, go to this site http://www.veganfamily.co.uk/yule.html#cat and scroll down and there is a recipe for a trifle there - the 'cream' bit on it is yummy.
There are some yummy baking recipes on this site! http://www.veganfamily.co.uk/cakes.html0 -
Thanks ever so for replying Justamum :A What do you think about the potato question? Can I do it with single cream?

I have bought soja-saane (creamovita) from Granovita from Sainsburys, but I don't know if your local one will have it, that costs £1.39 and tastes just fine but takes it out of you whipping it by hand :rotfl:.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Fantastic! I will look in Sainsbugs when I go tomorrow ~ fingers crossed :T

Good Morning Folks,
Another quick question~
Tadpole 1 is now a teenager and uses Johnson&Johnson's Clean and Clear. She is now wondering if that is a suitable product for veggies and I want to know their animal testing policy. I know that Sainsburys have "We don't test on animals" on all their own brand products and wonder what else you all use that you are happy are safe and ethical?
Look forward to hearing any replies. Have a nice day people xxxxSay it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

I personally use lush products that are vegan. All lush products are vegetarian at least and they do not test on animals - "Lush's Policy Lush are firmly committed to a policy which not only precludes testing its products and ingredients on animals, or engaging with third-party suppliers to do so on their behalf, but we will also not buy any ingredient from any supplier that tests any of its materials on any animals for any purpose". Their products may seem expencive, however they do last a long time so are worth it (2 of their shamboo bars last me a year for example :T - and my hair is really long).I am a vegan woman. Definitely another vote for Lush from me.
MY OH and I have both got very sensitive skin and we use their facial scrubs. I use Angels on Bare Skin which is lovely and gentle but totally does the job and he uses that and Dark Angels which is a more deep cleansing one. Both ethical and lovely.
The staff tend to be pretty knowledgable about which of the products are vegan and which just veggie but if they don't immediately know then it is usually pretty clear on the label.
My housemate uses products from Green People for her skin and they are not only organic but smell gorgeous. You can buy them online here.0 -
Just wondering whether anyone has any particularly lovely recipes for Christmas. I want to make a nutroast for Christmas but I need to try out a few as I've only managed to make disasters before. I'd really like a nice sliceable one - possibly involving oats? Any pointers?0
