That's so unfair. And stop spoiling this thread. You've been told.
Right, we'll both log on tomorrow and have a serious conversation about quanative easing, leveraging, gearing, return on margin, leveraged buy outs and the themes of envy running through Shakespeare's Macbeth.
No puns, no silliness and no childish banter.
I'll meet you at 11.05am sharp.0 -
They charge up to £4 for a cup of coffee and only make £19,000 per annum profit?
I'm not doubting what you heard, but how is that possible?
Because it's a cash business?I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0 -

For once I'm not being sarcastic and purposefully obtuse when I ask, what doeas a 'cash business' mean? A business that takes most of their money over the till in small amounts?
I am the first to admit that I don't have the first clue of the profits businesses make, but I just assumed that if you rent an empty store, employ a few people and charge £4 for a drink that is worth possibly £2 once you add up the all the overheads would make quite a bit of money.
I'm fully out of my depth here, but does the average Starbucks shop really only make £50 a day profit?0 -

A cash business might sometimes forget to put the odd copper or two through the till. Totally unintentionally of course.I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0 -

Conrad did say that it was an average price, so it's possible that there are quite a few shops that make a substantial loss which brings the average down. Perhaps these are the shops that are shutting?0 -
OMG...Processed grits called cereal? Check out Felicity Lawrence's new book and read the cereal chapter. So, you never sprinkle a little on your Corn Flakes? I always add extra on my Frosties, it's not sent me loonie....yet
Dear me, I sound like a real...well I don't know what tonight.
Really, I am a fun fun gal...who happens to be very slim from not eating any processed stuff.
I am too embarrassed to say what I eat every day for brekkie....it will set off the Morecambe and Wise tag team again.

I presume I'm one of the 'bored blokeys'? FC, your posts are one of the few I look out for because I always find them interesting, but I'll continue to post whatever I fancy, serious or ridiculous.
For what it's worth, your plight is quite close to my heart and I try to support small businesses where ever I can, whenever I can. You won't ever catch me in a Starbucks for example. However, I don't really see what this has to do with writing cr*p on an internet forum.
I'm now trying to think of a witty, succinct, soundbite to close on. But maybe that isn't a good idea. Maybe that was one?
Hi I just read my post back and it needed a tongue in cheek accent (but I don't have the techy skills to do that on my posts)...so, I don't mind at all....in fact, It's nice to laugh amongst all the doom.
But, I know these forums can be addictive and I just kind of noticed that the puns were coming in thick and fast over the past 2 days...plus Fun-Gus (as in happy bloke not mouldy bloje) is joining in too.
So I didn't mean to sound sour...sorry if it came over like that.
I am only feeling stressy because I have spent 2 hours on a bankruptcy, fact finding mission elsewhere and it's not much fun......
............esp if you have to go down because you can't pay your new high shop rent (due to evidence from another chain that opened up on my St of Gold) and you have another venture that you are *choke* TURNING DOWN ££££££ because you haven't got enough quality hours in the day to do the work and your surplus profit that COULD fund it is being swallowed up in a now, loss making shop.
So, as our LL will take us down for 10 X £42k plus 1 yrs business rates of £16k = £436k as it's the only way to exit the premises, I feel a bit peeeed off. We have nearly 10 years left on the lease....but they will add charges etc too.
Can you imagine going bust for £436k and you never, ever even bought a nice new pair of shoes....let alone all the other stuff that BR's are meant to have spent there money on.
I've had about 8 days off in 3 years and I am tired
The stupid HPI means I have beneficial interest....so bring on more crash...for me and Carolt and PN...all for different reasons.0
