I apologise fc123. I honestly try to keep a lid on it, but it is addictive and fun.. for me. Generally I try not to mess with serious and sensible threads, unless they have already started to veer away from the topic. Of course - what seems an important thread to one person, can be totally inconsequntial to another. Threads that are (in my view) ridiculous then I feel quite at ease trashing with my nonsense. Here I am, facing desperate times (linked to coffee shops paying silly, high rents) and every thread is turning into a Morecambe and Wise sketch.0 -

WIBBLE!I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0 -
I like Subway sarnies, but, boy, their breakfast subs are foul. Cold, greasy bacon, slapped in a roll and microwaved. McD bagels (now from New York Bagel Co., I believe) are much better.0

Not for a few years they won't.
Rents have got to fall to market value again.......to the value that they were before Starbucks et al pushed them up during the coffee shop wars plus, as soon as commercial LL hear 'coffee shop'. they whack the rent up.
BTW, is there a bored blokey competition going on trying to post the wittiest, most succint soundbite...on every board??

As a bored blokey i hold my hand up.....Sorry...mumble....orry . . . . . .
anyway, perhaps the reason the threads are getting very political and wise cracking is that anyone can read a report like the link below and get a clear idea where the economy may heading. Published 23.11.08

Not cheerful reading, titled: Gordon Brown Bankrupts Britain to Win Next Election Mid 2009
Quote:
More Bargains Coming for Shoppers
The outbreak of panic sales of 20% plus off marks just the first stage of the consumer bust of 2009. Shoppers can expect more discounting the closer we get to Christmas, followed by deeper cuts during the January sales and later in 2009 by the 70% to 80% price cuts in the CLOSING DOWN SALES as many retailers go bust0 -

Perhaps this has something to do with their predicament.

I presume I'm one of the 'bored blokeys'? FC, your posts are one of the few I look out for because I always find them interesting, but I'll continue to post whatever I fancy, serious or ridiculous.
For what it's worth, your plight is quite close to my heart and I try to support small businesses where ever I can, whenever I can. You won't ever catch me in a Starbucks for example. However, I don't really see what this has to do with writing cr*p on an internet forum.
I'm now trying to think of a witty, succinct, soundbite to close on. But maybe that isn't a good idea. Maybe that was one?0
