i used to do this alot with 121... but they always unblocked it when i phoned em.

    oh how times change!

Can't have been a PUK block then. This is a hardware function of the SIM (which is actually like a little computer inside). Once it reaches the limit of failed attempts, it modifies itself meaning it's fit only for the bin!

Unlike the "security" on most phones, SIM security is actually pretty good ;)

well if a child has a bike they know stay off roads, if a child has mobile they need to know security of the phone/pin/puk to avoid theft etc....

Not that this thread is about when you should punish your child but rather how to unblock a blocked sim, but when I was younger I blocked my sisters 'bt cellnet' phone, then put the PUK in wrong 10times. It was a genuine mistake and I worried so much about telling my parents. But once I did, we simply got it sorted. I knew not to do it again, and was explained what I should have done (once they found out). The fact that I felt so bad already, there was no point in punishing, just explaining the fact of the matter is a better way of learning, and I was more careful in future.

I hope OP DD is feeling better and not upset anymore, i'm sure DD will be more careful in future

hi spirit - they do know that each time they have made a call it comes up with the balance and they also have 5 favourite numbers so they get 5p texts but i found out they were just wasting money rather than using their phones sensibly so i hope that now they have been taken away they will understand that they are not toys - i thought i had explained properly what they were for but it seems they did not listen so thats that - they will have to have a good think and earn them back -

Perhaps Diamonds should first learn the courtesy of writing in English sentences before delivering child-rearing homilies.

& I'm sure everyone can make head & tail of my points,

No, _most_ of your posts look like they are written by a five year old :) I get about one line into your posts before my brain hurts and move on to the next post on the thread.

If you are happy that people view you as someone that spouts incomprehensible drivel, then I am happy for you, but don't be under any illusion that people can make 'head & tail' of your posts ;)

(Before you go off on one, I'm not complaining about your style of posting, just correcting your assumption)

    Cheers, Des.
  • Oh. have come across this thread after finding myself in exactly the same predicament (for same reasons) littleredhen.

Obviously not to be encouraged but thanks to your daughters actions all those months ago, I can settle my mind (and my daughters when she gets up in am) that all should be OK.

    Good lesson learned I hope.

To be honest, she hasn't had a pin set on her phone and tried to find/set one tonight at youth club as the others had one! Tried to sort the problem in same way as your daughter.
Makes me feel should have a PIN set on her phone to stop others using it but whats to stop others doing same and blocking sim by entering numbers for a PUK code 10x?

Anyway, thanks (many months later) for allowing me peace of mind.
If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:
