Yes you're right, they are a different commodity - you make much less money on them than if you invested is 'safe' shares.
Which 'SAFE' shares are these ??
I had my little adventure in shares between the commencement of the IRAQ War and April 2007 at one of the peaks (their was another in Sept 2007), when I cashed the whole lot in. Was up just over 100%, in a I think it was 3 years. Since then think the market has fallen from around 6900 to about 4060 at the moment, although it has jumped below 4000 a few times, There is nothing in shares but loads of risk at the moment, and little return.
I like to move against the market and buy at the bottom and sell close to the top.0 -

I am a first time buyer, £32k a year, oh earns £6k a year. We owe £15k.
I'm looking for a mortgage of max £110,000 although probably only need £105,000. We have £8k from a long service advance of pay from work.
Are there any companies that would loan us the extra as a secured/unsecured loan as well?
