    also Lichfield has 17% - 20% off.

Might be worth watching this place, there is a new Defence Medical services place being built here so local homes may be a good short-term investment for someone willing to take a risk?

A stupid risk at that - only buy with a long term view in mind.

Once you buy this so-called short term property, you might as well throw away the key as you are locked in for an eternity.

What's wrong with artex? Surely it will be back in fashion in the next decade or so?? :D

Not the style they had in this house, it was the worst artex I have ever seen, and it was all over the place, hallway (ceiling & wall), front room & dining room (wall), kitchen (walls), Bathroom (walls), Bedrooms (just a bit), problem was loads of it was raised well off the surface, so it would be difficult as hell, to overskim, and costly (with little add-on value to the house). A few other things not quite right boiler 2003 install, kitchen bit dated (probably spruce up would have been ok, general sloppy worksmanship, which I personally detest, but in short it is best to walk away, as I could immediately see the long term cost (including time) vs benefit of the works.

do you think this will affect the house prices?
  • 6 first time buyer properties sold by me from the end of january till this week, i think they must be listening to pandaomonia's advice just hope your not looking to buy here pandamonia.

if you want to look do a search for coleshill birmingham and tick the stc, its very surprising.

we had a viewer this morning they told us they ad sold their house twice in weeks, and this is the area they come from.

Looking at repo on monday, priced at £110k, although sold for £143k early 2008, have it on reasonable authority from the agents, bank will accept just over the £100k mark, rental income around £1000 PM as single rooms, or £600PM as whole house. Some minor works and updating required but sounds a prospect.

    Different house, hopefully no artex.

Bank has instructed EA to get rid at around the £100k, bought my first house in street next to it, in 1995, for £43k.
