Ah, no, she can't come home today as her bloods aren't good.

Breaks my heart to think of it, and I know I should think positive, but I guess I need to resign myself to the fact there may only be one reason she'll get to come home.

Sorry to be doom and gloom on here.

Really hope your dog pulss through, I came on this forum as thinking about getting another dog as lost ours in December and starting to look about getting another and thinking about insurance.

    Really hope he pulls through.

  • They're trying Fizz on different meds, taking a blood test today to see if they're working. Went to see her last night and she's still eating her head off and almost her usual self. All the nurses love her as she's such a darling, causes no fuss, takes her meds, she is the most beautifully tempered dog I've ever known. I miss her hogging the fire and taking over my bed at night. XX

shud1967, funny yours being a dobie too. The vet told me that this 'cold glutenate disease' is due to the blood cells being attacked when they get to the peripheral parts of the body (ie her legs), away from the core, and start to cool. Currently she's wearing a fetching blue human fleece coat all the time and can't go outside. You see lots of smaller dogs in coats when it's cold, rarely a big dog in one, but they may need covering up more cos of those long leggies.

Pretty good news then:T I always think if a dog is still eating well then there isnt lot wrong :)
  • Ahhh, the ups and downs of it all, my nerves are shot and my emotions are all over the place.

The bad(ish) news is that Fiz belly swelled up so they did a second ultrasound on her today, the good news is that they're pretty sure it's due to the drugs and are going to adjust them, and that her blood count has gone up higher than it's been for the last two weeks :T and she may be able to come home Friday. So fingers crossed.

And....my boiler packed up today  And vets fees standing at £5500.

And to think, when Tiffany the rescue cocker came to stay with us in August I said to my mum 'I'm really happy, my little family is complete, I feel happy with my life for the first time in ages' Life certainly goes and bites you in the a s s sometimes.

Gotta stay positive. Thanks for your kind thoughts and words everyone. x

Gonna go now, have a few glasses of vino and slump in front of the tv.
