And in the midst of all my worries the darn laptop threw a major wobbly and has to go off to be fixed
Thanks for all your replies. Fizzy the dobie is still poorly, but the good news is that she has no tumours so they can concentrate on trying to stabilise her red blood cells and not have to add chemo into the treatment. She's got to say at the vets over the weekend
We went to see her last night and she was feeling very poorly and wouldn't eat anything but she's had some biscuits and chicken this morning and I'm waiting for the vet to call me with the results of todays blood test.
I'm going to ask for an update on the costs so far so will let you know...0 -
Well done for having the insurance in place in the 1st place... and good luck to the doggie.Win Dec 2009 - In the Night Garden DVD : Nov 2010 - Paultons Park Tickets :0

I just wanted to say I hope Fizzy stabilises soon, and is bouncing around!
I know how horrible it is as we've just lost our cocker to immune mediated thrombocytopenia, which I believe is a very similar condition. Our Jas was an old dog though and just not strong enough.
I hated waiting for the "blood phone call"! Good luck!0 -
Hope Fizzy gets better soon. We have insurance for our 5 year old dog and have managed to claim a minimum of £2000 each year (he likes to keep me on my toes!). Never had a problem claiming, although he is a lot more expensive to insure than my car, I wouldn't be without him for the world.

Thank you everyone. Fizzy seems to have stabilised at the mo and the vet says she's really pleased and Fiz can probably come home this week. :T . She's MUCH better than when we went to see her last Thursday, she even managed to break into a trot when I took her out for a wee. Although this morning she'd pulled her line out and her head's swollen up, vet said it could be the steroids and she's not too worried for now.
I was very scared when she first got ill cos the vet said they'd had another dobie in a couple of weeks before with the same thing, and he died. But she did say his owners had left it for a couple of weeks before bringing him in.
As of yesterday - £2000.0 -
Pleased to hear she is better xxx0

Not particularly great news. As Fizzys blood isn't stabilising they're doing further tests, and from £2000 on Friday, the total now is £4475, with my limit of £6000  . And she's still with the vet.
So, it is vitally important to get the right insurance. Yes, get the best deal, but, in my opinion, REALLY consider what you're signing up for, go into it in detail. I thought my insurance was fine, until I needed it.
Things don't look too good right now :sad:0 -
Thats the trouble though, we all think insurance is a waste of money til we actually need it.
Sorry to hear your bad news, hope she will pull through quickly xx
Have you double checked with Virgin over the policy detail?
Just looked at Virgins website, sadly I think you are correct. The money is the total pay out.0
