oh dear, I am sorry - poor Fizzy and poor you. Fingers crossed for you both.0

I'm so sorry to hear Fizzy hasn't stabilised yet. Hang on in there - it's apparently common for them to rally and then relapse with these type of conditions. It's heartbreaking to see though.
Good luck to both of you.0 -
Just wanted to say good luck .... since loosing my baby in November to this dreadful disease I have found CIMDA Support at Yahoogroups... to be very very helpful.
Also thedoglounge.co.uk is great one of the ladies on there has had a lot of experience with autoimmune and is very knowledgeable.
Hope your Fizzy comes through okay if you need to PM me please do... xxxBit of a Florida Fan :j

Any news ?
My Bramble ( 9year old springer ) has had AIHA for over a year now, he is stable at the mo' and just has one steroid a day and a monthly blood test ( to check his red cells ). He is insured but if I had to pay it would be £70 per month ( no question that I would ). Your vet sounds very expensive, what area are you in ? I am in Doncaster and think that our vets are quite reasonable ( apart from TV Tim-the rspca show vet who can be pricey ).0 -
our old terriers are 16 years old now and their insurance wont renew, over the years they probably cost about £500pound in total with vets fees, never had any major illness , or accidents but the insurance policy in those days when they were pups expired when they reached 11years old, anyone now a days should check that the insurance covers the whole life of the dogs. Hope your dog continues to improve and gets well soon.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

Thanks for thinking of us. At the moment Fizzy has perked up, is lively, eating like a horse, and if her blood tests are ok today then she may be able to come home, just waiting to hear.
The reason the costs have gone up to £5000 is cos Fiz had a bone marrow biopsy and, without anyone telling me, the samples were sent to Colorado and Kansas   . This weekend they've been treating her with thalidomide, seems it's sometimes used in auto immune probs. Anyone heard of 'cold glutenate disease'?
Got my laptop back so will try the CIMDA support. Thanks0 -
Im glad fizzy has perked up... keep us informed please xxBit of a Florida Fan :j
