It seems to me that they keep moving th goalposts. What will you go for next if they cannot upgrade you?

Move! Where to I'm unsure really. I have a cash card account with Barclays but no cheque book.

I'll wait and see what happens. I'm going to have to try HSBC or Halifax.

They won't give him a current account but off him a loan, what a strange bank.

Remember that Personal Bankers at HSBC & Barclays can override if they want to..... Maybe worth asking Barclays if you have any limits?? Not sure if they are generated on a basic account but worth asking. Does it come with online banking?

You have you apply for a separate account with Barclays, which will be declined!

HSBC, mmmm, I'll apply online to spare the embarrassment of a decline!
