And I thought I had a lot of rejections LOL

Ok, vodafone - just go into Phones 4U with your credit card and they should be able to bypass credit scoring with a credit card (unsure if still the same but used to work, I got mine this way)

HSBC - go in with ID as when they see you, in branch, they can sometimes overturn decisions - obviously you may be better asking for the advance account first with an all auth visa debit card.... the Plus account may be a little too good for you at the moment plus its 13 sqids a month!

Regards to O2, innocent knows someone there I thought he said so see if he can help you get the dreaded iPhone with his contact!

HSBC gave me my overdraft on my 18th birthday?

    Odd they declined you.....

I only originally got the cards to build a credit rating, as I am 18 and haven't got any credit rating at all. Instead of improving my rating, I actually damaged it a lot. I ended up with 12 searches over 3 months, from the rejection spiral.

Now I'm just playing the waiting game, paying off the cards each month, and waiting for the months to pass so that the searches aren't taken into consideration when applying for future credit.

I applied for a contract with o2 and Vodafone. I was declined for Vodafone and o2 wanted a £150 deposit. So it's not looking good at the moment. My current Experian score is 300, making it very low. It was 600 in January, when I had just turned 18.

I've learned the hard way though and know that I've got to stay away from the apply button and stop using the cards so much.

3 active accounts at the moment. 1 current, 2 credit cards, all with 1 green at the moment. Hoping my record will look a bit better in 5/6 months time.

    lol i have
4 credit cards (vanquis, cap1, flybe, accessory)
2 shopping accounts (additions and littlewoods)
2 phone contracts (both orange, one for the other half :))
3 current accounts (hbos, lloyds and a+l)

probably got 15 searches?? not too sure... got enough good credit cards for now anyway (flybe and accessory)

have you tried an orange contract?? they accept easy i think??
i have no idea what my credit 'score' is though
    THANK MEEE:j

I applied for o2 and Vodafone last month, when all my credit report showed for 9 searches and 0 active accounts (Credit cards and current account only added to my report last week).

In January, the first thing I did when I turned 18 was apply for a HSBC Plus account. I was accepted, but in February, I changed it to a HSBC Current Account Advance, as I was paying £13 for a nice looking card, I didn't use any of the features.

At the moment, I'm not too bothered about a contract or overdraft. I'd rather not risk getting any more searches and just wait 6 months. I'm hoping in that time, I will be able to get an overdraft and a contract. :)

I would say your declines are purely because of the amount of searches Effect.

O2 and Vodafone weren't straight declines at least! If that's any crumb of comfort!

o2 are very very particular at who they will & will not accept.

If they offered you the £150 deposit your CR cant be that bad!

Why did capital one & Barclay initial decline you?

    Did you appeal?

No, I didn't. I have no idea how to appeal, and not sure if it's worth it now, nearly 2 months on?.

No, I haven't tried Orange yet. I tried Voda and o2 for the Nokia 5800 at £20 per month for 2 year contract.

Hi all, I hope everyone is well. Having finished chewing a wasp over the Orange decline, I decided to try again with my current pre-pay T-Mobile, and they have offered me a contract but with a £100 deposit which I get back in 3 months. Ok, so the network coverage round here isn't so good, but I can use it in places in the house.... And I can check work emails with the kids around without dashing to the office, and causing chaos!

    Pretty pleased - happy Monday!

    MOB

That's what I did MOB. £100 deposit 2 DD payments later I rang up and they refunded the card I paid the deposit with. You could have it returned to your account too.
