never-in-doubt wrote: »No. They stated that they stopped processing data and de-regulated from CRA in 2002. Therfore they returned my cheque but that don't mean i'm dun with them yet mate! I specifically requested (as I do in all my sar's) that if they hold no data about me then I want a signed declaration and they didn't do this so i'll be straight back at em.
they even write using official experian letterheads - not experian DA.
It works like this; experian run all the credit agency thing and have branches that dealwith gone away, fraud, employment fraud, catalogue fraud etc etc and all these were under the umbrella name of Experian Data Analatycs - however it is all now done by N Hunter when Experian bought them, and Experian DA is simply the parent name for all the little companies within it. So on Experian DA website you see application fraud and click it, you are sent to experian.co.uk and their application fraud bit. Mention gone away and you go to Hunter etc.
Following me mate...?
Yes and it all very interesting.0 -
Letter from Experian DA goes like this (i'm typing it word for word) and Josh can confirm cos he got the same I assume?
Thank you for your letter.
As from jan 2002 MCL Software de-registered as a CRA and no longer provides SAR's.
N Hunter carry out searches under section 7 of the DPA.
In order to carry out this search they will require:
--- List of ID in this section ---
N Hunter do not hold credit-scoring records, credit histories, copies of CCJ's or elecoral roll information. The info they hold relates to applications made to particular financial institutions and therefore they are unable to alter or add to these records without the permission of the lender concerned.
The data that N Hunter hold consists only of the application data provided by the applicant. Blah blah blah
Hope this helps mate2010 - year of the troll

So you have a good credit record then.
I take it you bank with HSBC to have one of their credit cards?
Lol, I'm working hard to make sure my file is presentable ... :A
No, not a customer with HSBC. I applied cos I saw on here they searched with Equifax (where I have less searches). I got an email a couple of hours after applying to say I had been accepted with a starting limit of £500. Over the moon as it was my first mainstream CC.
Funnily enough, I only had soft searches from HSBC on my Experian file and no 'proper' search conducted (unless it was Call Credit who I don't check ..:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove

Last year they changed it. If you already have a credit card you are allowed to keep it.0
