According to their website it is still Visa for sub-prime and Mastercard for Platinum

I know, perhaps the website is not updated? I know i could easily call them and ask if there has been a change issuing VISA card replaced with mastercard logo, but i just want to know if anyone has accepted for the sub prime classic visa and received a mastercard instead. Obviously the APR is not affected.

    Hi guys,

Well have been granted a Classic PO CC with a limit of 2.4K:j

This is now where I need all of you to give me some of your brilliant advice.

I am thinking of transfering my balance from my Flybe card(highest balance I have) and my balance from my Aqua card. Both to the PO card.
I also have Vanquis but no balance on that.

I am then going to pay off the two balance tranfers over the 12month interest free period and just use my Flybe card for purchases..it has a good APR so if I cant pay it off in full......which I do intend to do...it wont be the end of the world!

Then Aqua and Vanquis can eventually be "settled".

Does this sound a good plan?

I am new to all this so advice would be welcome;)

Does to me. As you have two mainstream cards I think you can now dispense with and close the subprime ones.

    Congratulations!

i phoned up the BOI today and they could not give out a desicion over the phone but did say the underwriters sent something out at 0955 this morning probably a big fat blow us

They do give decisions over phone, ring up and get the credit card option. Then select the option 2 ("press 2 if you've recently applied for a BOI card", then ask! They do give decisions, fact! I know cos my bruv just rung at 3pm today and got his (must be during 9-5).... incidentally he got a big fat no no! LOL

I don't think there has been a change.

From what I can work out, it happens when people apply for the platinum card and get rejected, but get offered the 'classic' rate instead.

I was surprised myself when I received mine. Maybe it is just some sort of system error where they just send out the design that you applied for in the first place.

I closed down my sub prime one, then applied online for the platinum one about 2 months later.

Usual decline letter came, but said I was accepted for the subprime visa again with 0% on purchases until May.

I wasn't going to bother, but did so because of the 0% deal.

When the card came through it was the Platinum mastercard, but at the classic visa rate after the promotional rate is over.
