February is 'use up' month

Guilty as charged,
I buy BOGOF shower stuff, hair products and other things that don't go off, we have a cupboard full and I start one bottle and leave it half full and go onto another.:eek:0 -
There is already a thread for this. See 'February is use up month'!! :j0

Also if you have stuff that doesn't suit you think of using it in differerent ways. I often find that moisturisers that don't suit the sensitive skin on my face are okay if I use them as body lotion. People are always giving my bubble bath for Christmas, it doesn't suit my skin so I use it as a foot soak0

I've been trying to use up my odds & ends in the bathroom for 2 years...trouble is, I keep getting more free samples, birthday pressies etc & never seem to come to the end of them! I currently have 18 bottles of bubble bath sitting in the cupbaord, thats 2 more than 13 months ago & I haven't bought a single one & use it religously!Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
I'll merge this into the "February is use up month" thread soon.

you could pack a selection of toiletries you think you won't use in a pretty basket and donate it as a raffle prize for a good cause0

still working on the use it up thing in my kitchen
today i spent hours cooking and i am so pleased with myself
i used up all the breadcrusts and ends i've been saving in my freezer. i now have a bag of breadcrumbs/cheese in the freezer for casseroles
i used some on the homemade macaroni cheese that i made (using up some very old packets of cheese sauce as part of the base)
i finally got around to making pate from the pigs liver that's been in my freezer so long i was thinking of leaving something to it in my will :rotfl:
the recipe i used said to put an onion, stock cube and water in it and cook the liver in that then discard. well couldn't waste that good stuff so i used the liver for the pate (used some of that blue curaco AND some horrible whisky we've had for ages in the pate) then i toss the stock left from cooking the liver in the slowcooker along with all the other bits and pieces i've been saving in my freezer for stock. now i have a few bags of stock.
i also made rice pudding to use up the last of a box of risotto rice
and i had some brown flour that needed using up so i made some welsh fruit bread using that and all the little bags of dried fruit (you know, the ones where there's a few bits in the corner of a bag)
everything turned out soooooo nice too! in fact dh said that my mac n cheese was the best he's ever had...quite a compliment considering it's my first attempt to make it home made :Tfounder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -
I've now found an unopened bag of porridge date BB Sept '03. I'm sure it's OK to use still so will be adding it to the tin of porridge soon.
Can I die from porridge poisioning?
