  • When cleaning out my bathroom some time ago I found I had 15 open bottles of shampoo! That was my turning point to not buy or open any more until they were all gone. It took me and the 2 kids a year to get down to one open bottle of shampoo but boy did it feel good!

still doing the big use it up in my kitchen cupboards

yesterday i decided to make some chilli i didn't have any dried beans but thought, hey, i've got a gazillion tins of chilli making things in my cupboards sooooo

i used 4 tins of chopped tomatoes (now down to only about 24  )
4 tins of kidney beans (down to only 4)
used up a handful of onions (we have so many onions its scary)
used up some of my many many bags of stock from the freezer
used up some mince that's been in the freezer forever
used up the last bits of cooking bacon that have been in the freezer forever
finished off a few nearly empty spice bottles

result, gorgeous chilli cooked in the slow cooker while i did other work PLUS more room in my cupboards!

decided to do some baking while i was at it so i made some cornbread... i've got some polenta that was getting a bit on the old side so i did up a double batch mmmm perfect with chili

i also found some butterscotch heavenly delight and a instant value sponge mix so i made these for dessert

    mmmmmmmmmm

i am about half way through all the packets making a mess in my cupboard, i can actually see light at the end of the tunnel :T

  • I found a big bag of Spinach at the bottom of the freezer. Not sure why I bought it as neither of us really likes it! Looked through the Mega index but can't find anything I fancy!
Isn't there a Greek dish, something like cheese and spinach pie?
I also wondered about some sort of potato, spinach and cheese patties (a bit like fishcakes)
    Anyone got any ideas/recipes, please?

If you join the thread for our Old Style Recipe Collection (not the index) and then type spinach into the search this thread box - you'll find eight recipes containing spinach that you might like to try one or two of.

I foresee a lot of MSE ers towards the end of the month desperate for recipes with the wierdest ingredients me included.

If you have trouble finding recipes to use up bits and pieces in your freezer or pantry, go to https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes or https://www.waitrose.com/food_drink/recipes/index.asp

You just enter the ingredient into the search bit and it gives you loads of recipe ideas all for free.
