  • Well, I was very naughty and not OS today. I had such a busy day at work then took oldest to the dentist and then had to pick up the younger boys from after school club. So I popped into Waitrose and bought some readymade pancakes. I just couldn't face faffing about making pancakes.

I am very close to over budget, which is totally unexpected and I still don't quite understand why!! (can anyone spot the reason?)

Payday tomorrow, so time to declare, I guess - although I'd rather skip, lol, 'tis too painful this month ! It all went to pot at some point - I have to declare £287.76 for February, I'm afraid.

I haven't given up yet, though. As I had a few quid in the kitty left over from January budget, and as the freezer is still bursting with stuff (it would appear that somewhere along the line I have acquired a stockpiler's mentality), rather than giving up and forgetting all about bad old February, I will try to make up for the overspend by adjusting the March total accordingly (with an eye to £2800 annual total - £225pm plus £100 extra for December).

So, Mrs M, can you put me down for £170 for March, please - if I make it, I will switch over to annual budget - if I don't, I'll stick to £225 per month from April. I gotta try, though :o

Well I'm well and truly over my Feb limit! DH offered to cook a meal for our wedding anniversary ( I nearly fainted ) so couldn't say no! Consequently had a big long shopping list! £42 lighter ahhhh!!!! there were other things in with that though, calpol, bread and I just had to buy OK mag to see Jade's photos. (I don't usually buy mags). What I can't get over is the cost of 6 courgettes (for the starter) £3.77 at Mr Ts!!!! Oh well.....

Please put me down for £200 for March please.

    Evening all

01001011 -the only thing I can pick up is that you have 5 bags of rice -which I assume will last you ages, so say 4 bags or £4 you have spent are for use in future months ;)

Well I have worked out a selection of meals (rather than a menu plan -so I have more flexibility)..using as much stuff as I can from the freezer and cupboards and I have enough meat/fish for the main meals and lunches for March and April :j
If only I could get to grips with eating 1 piece of fruit at a time and 1 yoghurt I could save even more :p but I seem to believe that yoghurts and fruit have to be eaten in 2s :o ..... Its not often my fruit n veg intake falls into single figures -so i will be glad when I can get all my veggies under way :T
Nearly a new month everyone -and a shiney new budget :j

The batch cooking on Saturday went really well & now have the dinners for the rest of the month, and then some:rolleyes: , prepared & frozen, plus quite a bit for lunches.

Despite having bought a few more bits on top of the main shop I still ran out of potatoes, onions & garlic, so I picked them up on Saturday (and just those). NSDs Sunday & Monday & just milk today, so its going fine.

There is still enough additional meat/fish and storecupboard goods for a further couple of weeks at least, if needed. So plenty left for getting whoopsies & special offers. Will then meal plan for April based on those! :D
