Just updated my signature to include shopping from 16th-24th inclusive. At the moment it looks as if I have £48.17 left of my February budget - but as I overspent in January by £41.30, then spending no more than £6.87 in the next 4 days (just about possible I think!) will mean I've brought the books back in line.

But I've meal-planned up to (& incl) 5th April - and have almost everything except for perishables in already (spent £11.60 in Mr T yesterday on freezer/storecupboard items I needed, and took the money out of my Feb budget), so I'm looking forward to being able to use around half of my March GC budget for stockpiling on bargains :T

Spent £93 in Mr M's on Sunday. Overall February spend £180, that leaves me £20. The first time I have had any money left over at the end of the month:j . Could you please put me down for £200 again for March. Thanks.

  • Another moneysaving day today. Started with a free swim using the last of my kelloggs vouchers and made it worthwhile by doing 44 lengths so I hope I don't ache tomorrow!
Went to Co-op tonight and got reduced cauldron sausages at 40p
    per pack x 2
    Peppered ham bogof
Pancakes-I didnt want the mess this time-after the deep cleaning sessions!
    cheese bogof
    Red Leic cheese multibuy
plus mlk and salad, cream and Lurpack for which I used my vouchers.
I also collected a book full of vouchers from a freecycle member and dd has used one tonight for a free swim. shame they run out on 1st March!
Spent £21.60 tonight so I will add that to total later.
Tidied the freezer today-OMG the amount of HM meals!
    It's groaning. I think I need another hobby-apart from shopping-really sad!

Well I was ready to post that I was only £20 over budget and then OH comes in with several bags of shopping having spent £66 at Tescos. Do I ask that much of him that he forgets this challenge?! :rotfl:So total for Feb is £186

Anyway could you put me down for £200 for March please?

I seem to have lots of odds and sods left in my cupboard. Would anybody object if I listed them for some ideas please? I would be very grateful if I could use them all up and clear some space!

Hi Floxxie - I don't mind you listing what you've got and making suggestions and I'm sure there are plenty of other people on here who would join in, everyone is always really supportive.;)

angelnikki - thanks for that Post with all the costings for switching to Free Range/Organic - I think it will let people see that it can be done and for not a lot more. I have always bought Free Range Chicken and eggs and even buy Hellmans Mayo as it's made with Free Range eggs but this month, after watching Save Our Bacon etc, I no longer buy any meat from the Supermarkets and buy from a Local Butcher and I haven't gone over Budget. Admittedly I still had a lot of meat in the Freezer from previous Supermarket shops so been using that up, but I have bought Bacon, sausages, Steaks, Braising Steak and a Joint of Beef from the Butchers this Month, however, March will be my first whole Month just using the Butcher so fingers crossed.

Dinner tonight :- 2 of us are having Spag Bol, have a tub in the Freezer which will serve 2 and the other 2 will be having Mince & Tatties, using up the last of the previously bought Supermarket Mince.;)

Still got my 9p left and staying away from the Shops today.:o

    Have a good day everyone.:D

Hi everybody, have never tried this before
As I have a healthy freezer and store cupboard I will declare £100 for March. I live alone so this should be fairly achievable
    Wish me luck please

  • Oh well - over the budget again -I'm declaring £290.52 although I am sure there are a few bits and pieces I have missed.

For March could you put me down for £300 - I think I may have been to ambitious in Jan and Feb!

    Thank you.

  • Just a quicky today, not had chance yet to catch up with the posts, will do later ;) .

Felt a bit off colour yesterday so I got my mum to get a milk, bread and veg top up for me yesterday whilst she did her shop at MrM's. £6.13 added onto sig. I was hoping that'd be it for the month but I may have to nip out to get some supplies for OH and his Dad who are building a downstairs loo at the weekend, so bacon, egg and sausage barms prob from Aldi as it's cheaper there and should stay in budget

I'm declaring at £427, which is my lowest EVER, and I have fairly well stocked cupboards still (not as full as at New Year though).

My target for March is £450, as it's a slightly longer month. However, I'm hoping to come in quite a bit under that as I'm running down my stocks. We are in the process of buying a house, and when we move we will be down to one fridge freezer for a while as there isn't room for the separate freezer. I'll be getting a new, side-by-side model (maybe even a fancy one with ice-maker, since there's the plumbing for it!) but will have to wait for a bargain to come up in a sale. We currently have a kitchen f/f (with the rented house), a garage f/f and a garage freezer, so it will be a lot less food storage. Hence the need to start emptying it.
