    Evening all

I want to DECLARE AT £410 budget is shot to pieces, but I'm not too disappointed as pre GC I know it would have been alot worse! Think overspend has been caused by a combination of ever increasing prices and stockpiling. I will stick with my £350 budget for March as should really be do-able for family of 2 adults and 2 ds - they just seem to eat more and more! I have learnt so much in this first month from all you lovely people, when I start to feel "what's the point" I read the posts and my determination returns - keep going everyone you're all doing great!

    Keep safe and well.

    Regards

    Hi everyone

Just caught up with about 10 pages and glad to see we're not the only ones struggling this month. We are over by about £20 but I won't declare until the end of the week just incase.

I can't wait to do a decent shop next week when March starts as the cupboards, fridge and freezer are looking really bare. I love it when I do a big shop and the fridge is absolutely bursting with fresh food. :D Sadly it's the complete opposite at the moment.

Should have enough to last until the end of the week. A couple of evenings this week all 4 of us will be eating different individual leftover portions that have sat in the freezer for a while in order to save me buying ingredients. :rotfl:

  • I know the feeling TheBees! I love it when everything is full. And guess what everyone - my outside freezer is getting there now! I'm so pleased that it's up and running again, and i was really careful in my shop to get useful stuff that I would actually use.

I forgot that tesco doesn't take off the multibuy discounts as you shop online (why? that seems stupid to me!), so my shop came in at £93 and some pence. This will do proper meals for us all for the whole month, and probably a great deal more too. I do need to get some more frozen veg and a few other bits, and I may even try to do the milk-freezing thing now I have space.

Ooh, the thought of being able to go shopping at the beginning of a month is so exciting!!! (Does that make me really sad?!)

Children with their dad tomorrow, so I'm having 'storecupboard surprise', and as I'm working late on weds, we're have beans and sausages on toast for dinner then, so a cheap couple of days.

On the MS front, although not food, a friend at work offered me their old single bed base for my son, all I need to do is get a mattress - bargain! That's what my £2 collection was for, so now I can save for a camping trip instead - very MS!!

    Night all,

  • Morning everyone - it's going to be a close shave this month, popped to Iceland yesterday to get Milk and remembered that I had no eggs in and it's Pancake day today so managed to get Milk for £1.25, 6 Large Free Range eggs for £1.25 and then had to get Mouthwash in Superdrug at 95p, leaving me 9p to last until Thursday.:o I have EVERYTHING in that I need, just need to STAY AWAY from the Shops. I will declare on Thursday just in case, also need to think about Target for next month as it's a shorter Month by 3 days for us so should make a slight difference.

Dinner tonight is a Steamed Steak & Kidney Pudding (minus the Kidney as the rest of the Family don't like it, I love it), spuds, carrots and green beans. Pudding will be Pancakes with sugar and lemon or banana and syrup.;)

    Have a good day everyone.:D

  • Hi all

Well done all of you for this month. I am amazed:rolleyes: that my shopping is actually well under budget with us spending £224.00 this month so am chuffed. I think this is the first time I have actually got it so low. ( how I don'tknow!) I have been careful looking at what we have in the cupboards, freezer, fridge and trying not to let any food go to waste. When our fridge freezer broke down a year and 1/2 ago dh got one which was much smaller and although I prefer my old one it actually helps in respect of food,,,,not throwing as much away as what I used to. :T

Please keep us at £250 for March. All the best to you all and see you at the March grocery challenge.

    Regards, Mr and mrs t

hi....i should hang head in shame ive spent £1.70 when im suppose to be spending nowt...i did get some reduced veg in the coop....they have stew bags with a few carrots 2 onions a parsnip and a swede they were 60p today which i thought was quite good.........also sainsburys have all baby toiletries half price so i bought a couple of bit..i suppose that is what people mean about having some money in reserve for bargains....it seems a false economy not to get things u regularly buy when u see a great price....spending money to save money iyswim

    happy pancake day
