Disneyland Paris tickets question

  • Well, I've done the trip and it all worked out well. We got the 335 day 'annual' Fantasy passes for £74 each (€103). That's a 20% discount on the usual €129 price when buying 5 tickets. It was useful to have a print out of the relevent page from the french Disney web site, as the discount wasn't applied automatically at the entrance. You are given 'temporary' passes and have to go to the Annual Ticket building where they take your photo and issue your proper tickets. We spent 5 of our 6 days in the parks, so we got good value out of them (Thomas Cook want £140 for a 5 day pass) and we can go again later in the year, if want.

The Holiday Inn at approx. £62.80 / night (3 bed room) with breakfast was fine. If you want breakfast it's best to get an inclusive rate as they charge €15 per person to add it on. Bar and drink machine prices are high but you can get free ice to cool your own drinks. We had dinner in the restaurant once, but wouldn't recommend it. Maybe we were unlucky. You can get better value in the Disney Village - where restaurants such as Anettes and Billy Bob's will give a 10% reduction when the annual pass is shown - as do all restaurants and shops in the parks.

The trip via Eurostar direct to the resort went fine, though the tickets were almost twice as much as the return journey we booked via Lille @ £29.50 per adult. However, the TGV was late into Lille and the resulting stress of getting checked in almost made it seem worth paying the extra for the direct trip!

Some tips from experience. The station is right next to the Parks (this wasn't obvious to me until we got there!). The free number 54 pink coloured bendy bus takes you from outside the station to the 4 hotels on the outskirts - Explorers, Movenpick, Holiday Inn and Kyriad. The bus queues can be very long going back to the hotels around 20:30 in the evening but everybody always managed to get on - it's amazing how many can fit onto a bendy bus. Avoid the scammers trying to get you to sign petitions as you walk to the parks - they sound worthy but they then ask for a donation. When travelling on the TGV you are supposed to validate your ticket using the yellow machine near the platform escalators. We saw people doing this and asked at the information desk and were told you could be fined if tickets are checked on the train and you haven't done it. Take a trip into Paris - about €16.70, from memory - on the RER for a zone 1 to 5 pass. When asked what was the best ride my 10 year old daughter said the trip up the Eiffel Tower!

Many thanks for the advice from everbody who made this trip possible at a cost effective price for us.
