Fine Fayre - later taken over by Food Giant
Wollies when it was where Tesco in the Murray gate is now - later taken over by John MEnzies after they moved from their 3 floor store on the corner of Commercial street.
The A1 restaurant in commercial street, later moved to the Nethergate.
Draffens the department store
Hepworths mens tailors
Dunn & Co. men's tailors
The shop along the old overgate that used to sell 'alternative clothes' - spandex and punk tartan trousers.
Geo. Stephen the ironmongers in Castle Street
Largs the music shop at bottom of Commercial Street.
Audrey - the clothes boutique that gave you 'tick' on the corner of Wellgate and St. Andrews street - kids department was downstairs.
Goldbergs the dept. store in the Wellgate Centre (around the time Tesco had their store in there)- did great coffee....
Nicoll and Smibert the baker's where Greggs is at the top of Castle Street now.

Half Price Jewellers are still in Derby - although I think they are called HPJ, and I'm pretty sure that there is an Odeon cinema in nearby Burton Upon Trent too.
Princess Coupon mentioned Beefeater - if you mean the restaurant chain then yep, good ol Derby still has theirs!Are we just stuck in the past or what?!!!
Oh and our Fine Fare became Gateway, THEN became SOLO! Anyone remember them? They didn't last long before becoming Somerfield here though.

Strangely enough Argos took over the Index shop in Newcastle....
