i just phoned them as i'm paying £17.99 a month for unlimited broadband.i was told that i am in an area where bt won't allow other companies to use the lines,i knew this anyway as i can't get virgin tv or the sky package inc broadband for £26 a month.i was told the best they can do is drop it to £15.99 a month with a free wireless router.i am considering o2 but don't know if they are any good.does anyone else have o2 broadband?

O2 broadband is simply EXCELLENT. They have the best reviews online and very good speeds. :T

I was with BT for 5 years and was paying £23.99. Whenever I tried to get a better price they were always fobbing me off saying there is nothing they can do to take the price down. O2 which I also have a mobile contract with offered me 8Mbit Unlimited broadband for £2.50  and I have been with them ever since. And surprise surprise, when I called BT back then to get my MAC code, they did everything to keep me. £12.99 per month, new router, that freeview palyer of theirs with 160Gb hard disk (all for free), but I told them that they should have offered that to me when I asked for a better deal, not when I threatened them to leave.

By the way, for all people out there, if you want to get a better deal with your mobile provider or broadband provider, don't ask them for a better deal, but just ask to cancel. They will jump through the hoops to keep you. Never forget, that these companies need us more than we need them. If they lose our custom they lose profits, so go out there and kick some a**.

Well I guess it can be called a result but not a great one but it all counts ..

Called AOL back this morning and asked to cancel and get a MAC code . Straight away I was transfered to a very pleasent lady . I felt kinda bad giving her a hard time about my current price and that I could get it cheaper elswhere ( which I very much doubt I can given my area I seem to be out of everyone elses coverage but BT ).

After a half hour call arguing the fact I was paying ott the outcome is ...

They have lowered my plan from £17.99 to £15.99  ok like I said not great and have also thrown in a Wireless router and AOL unlimeted talk.

    So £2 saved a month :T

Give it ago , and dont give up :D till you get a result

    More thanks OP!!!

Just rang to 'cancel' as said Sky were offering better deal. Much guff about how they had usage limits etc (knew that already) then I pointed out that as a new customer I could get the service I currently have for £9.99 (Now pay£14.99)

To my surprise the guy claimed that if any existing customer asked for this deal it will be applied to existing customers and has now changed my account for a new 18 month contract:D

We are charged 29.99 per month, its unlimited up to 8meg but is constantly horribly slow,i was just a bit concerned that if we ring them they may put us on a capped service...anyone know? Thanks

Im on unlimited up to 8 (think it runs about 3 on average) and i pay 9.99 a month and have done for nearly 2 years, tell them you already have sky tv and they have offered you their top BB package for an extra 10 a month, lay it on a bit thick about how you have never had any problems with AOL and you really don't want to go but needs must ;)
