i just phoned them as i'm paying £17.99 a month for unlimited broadband.i was told that i am in an area where bt won't allow other companies to use the lines,i knew this anyway as i can't get virgin tv or the sky package inc broadband for £26 a month.i was told the best they can do is drop it to £15.99 a month with a free wireless router.i am considering o2 but don't know if they are any good.does anyone else have o2 broadband?

And yet she then went on to offer me one of thier new packages with talk and a silly fast connection ( wasted on me as my line only supports half a meg connection speeds ) which is listed as more but I could have it for same as Im paying now ( £17.99 on silver )

So I think I shall be hunting round to see who else serves my area

I got the same explanation. Due to where I live the exchange has not been unbundled as yet and so AOL have to pay BT for the privilege and hence the higher price. They also stated that this is the same for all suppliers using these exchanges. This does have a ring of truth to it so either it is true or there have been too many of us trying to get it cheaper.

i use to pay £24.99 for AOL gold a few yrs ago they reduced it to £9.99 for me until i took there offer of a free laptop at 24.99 for 24 months. just seen out 12 months of this contract. any ideas on getting out of this contract need to save some money. i tried to offer the return of the laptop but they were having none of it.

I found out when Carphone Warehouse acquired AOL broadband, back in Jan 2007 they made a few changes, most notably the disappearance of its ‘middle’ product, AOL Gold.
This created a curious and unsatisfactory gap between AOL Silver and AOL Platinum As if to cover up the disappearance, they doubled the speed of their entry-level AOL Silver package to 2Mb, which is what AOL Gold used to be.
And no doubt to distract attention, they offered people who found out and switched to AOL Platinum an extra £5/month discount, bringing their price down to £24.99/month.
But they never told anyone who was on the Gold package!
I found out at the end of last year and was even told by a girl on the help line that i was paying £24.99 for a £9.99 service!
I complained and argued and so was given 3 months free rental, a free wireless router and now pay just £6.99 a month.
Don't let them fob you off with excuses they owe us all a refund as we've all been over paying since Carphone Warehouse took over!!

i dont know what package i am on with aol but it is 14.99 a month, do you think i could get that reduced?

just found out that my tariff is aol broadband wireless, if someone thinks they will offer it to me for cheaper i will give them ring

just rung and the lowest they will drop it to is £12.99 which is not a great deal lower but every little helps

We are charged 29.99 per month,its unlimited up to 8meg but is constantly horribly slow,i was just a bit concerned that if we ring them they may put us on a capped service...anyone know? Thanks

I have been with AOL continuously for around 6 years. Around a year ago I took out their Laptop deal with them and now pay a whopping £29.99, If I remember correctly this was an 18 month contract..
Has anyone had any success in bringing the cost down whilst still in a similar contract?

I'm on the laptop deal signed up Oct 07, paying £34.99 a month (including out of area fee?) anyone think I will get a discount if I phone them tomorrow?
